I still think the best closure you get in Armageddon is just moving on to the next character.

It's only been a week.  You crazy people.

Although, I found this:

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

For the hell of it I made a video demonstrating RMBT, its nowhere near as interesting as Sanvean's stuff but here it is regardless.

If only I had Sanvean's soothing voice!

I had done a new one, but the sound was crap again, need to redo it sometime this week.

What's the 'TRUST LEVEL' flag mean in the area creation section?

Basically things like marking immortal-only rooms.

Ahhh.

I thought it might be some Trust areas in the game for certain clans.  Like a 'no crim zone' inside estates or buildings.

While watching that last video, I caught myself glancing at my watch all the time and thinking about witty questions to ask, to show that I am not sleeping at all. Considering that effect, Raesanos probably has a lot of experience with business presentations.

On a more serious note, good stuff. Excellent idea, Sanvean.

Not quite, it's the staff level needed to edit the place.  At least that's how it was designed.  All world entities (which places are an example of) have a trust level which define what it's permission is as well as what permission it takes to edit it.  This is only now getting truly defined, but it's there.

I was just repeating what someone else told me, heh.  LIES TERRIBLE LIES

Need... new... videocast!

*cries*
Tryin' to make friends but people are jerks,
So I'm gonna put some fleas on you.
And the fleas'll have the plague,
And they'll make you cough a lot,
Then you'll be too sick to hurt my feelings anymore.

"When I was a fighting man, the kettle-drums they beat;
The people scattered gold-dust before my horse's feet;
But now I am a great king, the people hound my track
With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back."

I'm really learning how to pronounce things.

Arm is evil.  And I love it.  It's like the softest, cuddliest, happy smelling teddy bear in the world, except it is stuffed with meth needles that inject you everytime

Yay! Happiness!
And curse my spelling skills and writing an email at 3AM in the morning.

I really love these videocast things.

Quote from: "Sanvean"Re: the whole country -- I'm pretty sure that the handful of people playing from there at the time were all involved in what happened.
There were about 7 players playing from Israel at the time and I was one of them.  We were well aware of each other, most of us didn't play with one another in-game except for the three who hacked the machine the MUD was stored on- in fact when Israel got banned those three laughed at the rest of us; they were able to to hack ISCA and Armageddon, you'd think banning Israel would stop them from reaching your MUD?- they'd telnet from an external machine using a false DNS namespace.  I unfortunally was unable to connect to my beloved MUD for years :(

P.S. I am not a hacker and was never part of this act, but I am familiar with the whole story from the Israeli point of view; if Sanvean agrees I could share it with you (it's been almost 13 years since then after all).

Quote from: "Sanvean"Re: the whole country -- I'm pretty sure that the handful of people playing from there at the time were all involved in what happened.
I definitely wasn't.
If the Israeli hack was thirteen years ago, I was seven years old at the time.
Quote from: Vesperas...You have to ask yourself... do you love your PC more than you love its contribution to the game?

I put this new one up early, since it's timely. It's about taking on new staff.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=yap1SBt0NOk

TripleX, if you want to post about the hack, could you perhaps run the post past me first just so I make sure there's nothing in there that other old staff might object to? Some people are very careful of their privacy and we've had some problems in the past with players stalking staff.

Did you already choose "Behind the Scenes" as the title?
I feel dumb sending in my title suggestion now.

Nope, I taped that last week, before I got your suggestion. ;)

Interesting... so staff are discouraged from creating items for their characters? Why?

I can understand that they shouldn't be making steel swords of doom and armored tunics of invulnerability, but it's a bit surprising if the ban includes innocuous items that are just variations of things already in the game. Where is the harm?
Lunch makes me happy.

Well, for one thing, we don't do special items for players, so it'd be pretty unfair to them as well as signaling "Staff Character" pretty quick.

This is a policy that's evolved over the years in part because it's a slippery slope. First it's a fancy cloak, then it's a steel knife, then somehow it all ends up in tears and personal laser cannons.

There's 'Tears' as items?

???
