Title: New Log Up
Post by: FiveDisgruntledMonkeysWit on April 15, 2008, 12:13:07 PM
This is an old log of mine, one of my favorites.
http://www.armageddon.org/original/showSubmission.php?submission=352
I accidentally used my account name instead of my GDB name when I submitted it, so I'm just sort of claiming credit for it now, I guess.
So, yeah, logs are fun. You should totally post some of your own, don't yoiu think? *Hint hint nudge nudge squeeze grope*

I had a lot of fun reading this, especially the part where one of the elves was describing his job. The quality of the RP was impressive. Thanks for posting it.

Now post more.

I agree. Everyone knows I love the Rinth anyways, but this is a great example of what it should be like. I love seeing the non combative nature of the lowlifes of the Labyrinth. It also diversifies the place. I only wish that elf was still alive doing that it would be a great ddition to the place.

Well done man, well done.

Meh. That log pretty much shows how archery needs to be redone. Even with the criminal coding in place...having a crossbow pointed at you should be at least a -little- more unsettling than 'stand;draw weapon;draw weapon;shout I dare you'.

Aye. A crossbow bolt to the chest at point blank range? I don't care what the stats or skill levels of those involved are: the crossbowman wouldn't miss, and the recipient would be incapacitated, or worse.

I thought the victim had a shitty reaction. It almost felt like this happened in a HnS mud, rather than an RPI.

The log was awesome up until the point someone just stood up and drew their weapons, knowing OOCly that they'd easily be able to take the guy since all he has is a crossbow. If I were the guy with the crossbow, I probably would've pointed it at her and demanded that she drop her weapons; OOCly I know it would've accomplished nothing, but ICly my robber wouldn't know that.

Still, it's largely the fault of the game code that one knows, OOCly, that a crossbow at point-blank range is pretty much not at all a threat to one's character. I guess this is a roundabout way of saying I agree?
Title: Re: New Log Up
Post by: RogueGunslinger on April 21, 2008, 08:53:05 AM
I would have role-played it out for a scene. Either by complying if my character was unskilled, or by emoting something bad ass if my pc was skilled, like:

>em skillfully dodges the bolt, feinting under it and closing the distance to ~crossbowman in an instant. He grabs for ^crossbowman arm his hand moving at incredible speed.
>subdue crossbowman(even though crimcode would insta-gank me in that instance, just a rough idea)

Then see how things went from there. People just need to roleplay more instead of freak out, draw both weapons, then offer a challenge.

I saw something similar, only the person didn't use a bow. He used a knife.
Title: Re: New Log Up
Post by: Tarx on April 21, 2008, 09:01:48 AM
If the crossbow were perhaps pointed at the chest, yes, I could see that.
I think the reactions could have been better (I didn't react because I was shocked and laughing, "victim" was just one PC amidst a crowd of other vNPCs, culprit didn't account for vNPCs/even NPCs with drawn weapons already there) but I found the whole event more amusing on a different level.

I mean...come on. A crossbow? Coded archery problems aside, you can shoot one person--ONE person. Then you have a chunk of wood in your hand that's useless, and a whole damn room full of people who (likely) all have weapons of their own. It's not like you're holding up a liquor store or a bank in present day. The Barrel isn't quite the Gaj, but I see what happened as closer to this

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23293620-5001021,00.html

than a robbery at gunpoint.

Might I point out, again, that using a crossbow is a one-shot deal if you're going to coerce a whole roomful of people with it?
Even if you hit someone, you have to reload the crossbow before you can hit someone else!

That's why the situation merits mirth on many levels. It wasn't smart, it was slightly scary (you could have gotten a bolt stuck in you!), and the culprit got dealt with.

I've got another log that's way too short to really submit, but it consisted this same character browsing things in the Bazaar and getting hit in the head with a pair of boots from an old man that attacked him--and that was the same week. Someone was fulfilling odd urges from the OOC forum that week, I bet...
Title: Re: New Log Up
Post by: Yam on April 21, 2008, 09:05:05 AM
I am ambivalent.

A part of me things the scene was amusing if rather sadly played out.

But then I've also seen people do some strange things while looking down the barrel of a gun.
Title: Re: New Log Up
Post by: brytta.leofa on April 21, 2008, 09:05:27 AM
Archery thing is dead-on. And, of course, a single-person robbery is suicide in Armageddon--but people should still be unanxious to be the one shot.

I guess my other complaint would be the rush to track down the perp. Really, you're in a bar and somebody tries to rob you--shoots, misses, runs away--and you want to leave and try to find him? Leave it for the militia, people; you've got enough trouble of your own.

Likewise: "A gemmer and I have caught him..." :o
> psi OMG Did it hurt you? Will he help you get away from the gemmer?

I hate to be ragging on the players involved, 'cause all this stuff is understandable and it's likely that I wouldn't have done any "better" in the heat of the moment. Crossbows are dangerous only in the hands of a master; an exciting diversion is hard to pass up; the playerbase is thin enough that you'll take help (and real PC interaction) where you can get it.

Take what you can get at 10 AM EST on a Saturday morning, eh? :)

edit: For what it's worth, this was a year ago during the "OMG too many magickers" debacle and the great karma-off and etc. Couldn't post it sooner due to the rules on posting submissions.

I agree as well... although I understand how the reaction is hard to control when you just want to stand and draw your weapons. I guess if the person had some real good armor on (equivalent of a bullet-proof vest) then it might make more sense - but then there's a chance you could get shot in the face when you are that close. That would suck.. hard. Honestly, in real life it would be a different story... but again, the way things work in the game make it hard to react realistically I guess.

I agree also... the gemmer thing irritates me a bit as well. The "robber" and the guy hunting the robber should have suddenly teamed up against the gemmer, in many circumstances. I guess it could have gone either way... or they all are just cursed with the touch of the gemmers foul taint and have gone crazy. Hah.

I don't know. I like my life.

It's like, someone walks in with a crossbow today, and says, who wants to die? Give me your wallets. You really seriously going to be the one who might die? Yeah everyone else might get them, but, you want to be a martyr? Seriously. Everyone in Zalanthas is bad ass. But also they are mortal ya know? It'd be more frightening if he had a M-16 but still. A crossbow bolt...it hurts man. It'll kill ya. Seriously. It's scary scary.

The kind that, when you swing them casually about, take out half the population of the bar. When you swing them with purpose, it's a bit like mowing the lawn, only with a lot more blood and screams.

I'm not sure..but that may have been my gemmer that was walking around in that scene..and the same one that "caught" the guy...

That hold-up had serious potential to be really fun by the looks of it.

I don't get these squealing insta-grass up players! You make raiding, robbery and all the acts that make REALLY FUCKING COOL SCENES extra hard to commit, and the game less fun. I doubt most commoners would give a shit or have the balls to summon a Templar in most cases.

I like that concept, but the crimcode sets a contrary example here. Lethal violence is absolutely not tolerated ever--and templars typically aren't that inaccessible.
Some even come with a customer service satisfaction guarantee. ;-)

I was REALLY careful to make sure that they both had the same title. Weird how that works.

I edited it in Windows Notepad, then spent way too much time in GMail fighting with the random carriage returns that Notepad had inserted. :-[

Next time I'll probably use gvim, since it will wrap lines on-screen without actually inserting any characters. But that's not a terribly user-friendly program; it's just that I already know how to use it.

Hah! That supports the ancient hatred of permadeath because some noob on a permadeath game will get too powerful and able to kill off any other player in the game. I tried to find a link to that article, but can't find it.

BTW, Pale Horse, I'm pretty sure you could guess how spammy a thriller dance would be. Many zombies repeating the same emote ;) Tek did the right thing by leaving it out.

An amazing load of new things.

Stories: 1 new
Songs: 4 new
Art: 1 new
Logs: 4 new

I contributed one log, and hope to send in another with the "ending" to that when I can find it. If you were wondering why the issue about gemmed RP came up, and discussion about IC boards containing too much exact info, etc, as in this thread (http://www.zalanthas.org/gdb/index.php/topic,29935.msg328867.html#msg328867), then this explains that. There's a few more posts reguarding that as well. If you were ever curious what the events were that led up to the murder of the last keeper of the Vividuian pool, and a new NPC to replace them, this is it.

Ruti's player is not around anymore, and left after Ruti died due to feeling wronged by the Staff. He did not actually participate in the final scene, either, but his PC was staff-animated for that. I think they did an extremely good job with that death scene, there was a gathering of vNPCs hiding out in the crowds that staff made agree with some points of him. It was a very good scene, in my opinion. Ruti's player (GDB handle Rarsh) might come back for Arm 2, and might not. I think he currently playing Harshlands, but it may be a different MUD.

I think he used to hang out one room back, in the temple. I interacted with him once and thought he was a PC, actually... Until I realised that no, he wasn't linkdead back there. :P Anyways, he was "new" in so far as it wasn't a regeneration of the last PC, which happens way too often with the random killings.

Yam, loved the log. My favorite part is when you look at the templar, and he has no clothes. Also when you think:

QuoteYou feel somewhat courageous in light of the circumstances.

You feel not too courageous though.

You feel hungry more than anything.

You feel a bit confused too.

Ghost, your story was amazing to read. I confess that this is the first one I've read, despite there being so many good critiques about them going around. It was good, and I plan to read all the others as well. A hearty round of applause, it was, again, a wonderful read.

I felt like the log/story "Felna and the Baj'aa Paj" could have been better. The forgein words would make sense to say in Sirihish as loan-words, but if Bendune was the language the story was origninally written in, then having them there doesn't make much sense. I like the idea of adding flavor to a story that way, with loan-words, but I think using too many can undermine the story. I liked how needing to rest found the diamonds, but felt that it didn't conclude well. You wouldn't find diamonds every time, after all. What other benefits might the birds have? Maybe it the bird had seen the diamonds where Felna has missed them, and pecked at them, it would show something useful. Alternately, mannerisms might be good. It was a very interesting read, the same, and I think it did a good job of capturing the tribal "feel" in folktales where things have unexpected benefits. I do think it needs to be fleshed out more.

The Zan log was amusing, because his money was stolen by a whore. I like how he wasn't killed, just punished and threatened with future death. I really like when PCs use alternatives other then death to gain motivation. I know that more then once as a player I've been certain that my PC would die if I followed that person.... Only to gain new RP oppertunities out of it, and usually have my PC either awed or terrified out of their minds. It's sad that sometimes that's just too risky, because people will get you back by killing you. Alternatives to death are always more interesting.

"How Child Cilops Stole Fire" -- It intrigues me, but the "'" is driving me crazy, and I can't focus to read it. Am I the only one seeing those? I think it should be re-submitted with those edited out, they're really distracting.

Bayors Poem-- Short, interesting. I could have had it be a little longer, actually! I liked how it flowed with the rhyming. I assume Bayor was a northie from the "light of his king," line.

Recued by Raleris Winrothol-- Rescue is spelled wrong in the title! :o Someone should get that fixed! I like it, except for the "His Corporal came along,|never questioning what was wrong" lines, which don't seem to fit. I think maybe "came along, assisting to fix the grevious wrong," would fit better. I like the deails on how to play it, like "(*cheerful and jaunty, hold out the last note of each line*)" which is a nice detail that you don't usually see in the song section of Original Submissions.

And, as to the dwarf... It's by our Visulization Specialist! What more needs be said?

Great job and efforts by all, I hope to see more in the next batch that gets approved!

The thing that I liked the most about Zan, and other rinthers around that time, is they were absolutely mundane. That time in the rinth was filled with monsters and magick and insanity, and PC's like Zan helped ground the fact that the rinth, at the end of the day, was just the projects, filled with rinth rats.

Ah, how I miss the old days of Jak and Sandas and even Blade.

Ditto. My bynner got into strife with her once, and I (the player) was awestruck at her command of the art of the insult. The way she managed to provoke someone who over the years had I thought become impervious to sergeant abuse.
It was one Kudos I should've sent.

QuoteBayors Poem-- Short, interesting. I could have had it be a little longer,

It was quite long enough for the patrons of the Sanctuary when my 'nakki Bynner recited it. One more way for a Southron to get kicked from the Sanct. Recite a poem there about a king, in southern sirrihish.

The proper title should be "new art up" now, but I'm too lazy to make a new thread just for that. Really, we should have one thread for "New Original Submissions!"

What do you guys think of the new art thing? Thumbnails are awesome, but I'd really like to keep the title and comments viewable before clicking on something too. Also, the "new" tags don't show up with the thumbnails, you have to set it to "by date" and "decending" to find them.

Yeah, that's one thing that's always kind of annoyed me about this gallery script. Which sucks, because every art website made in the last 3-4 years seems to feel obligated to use it. At least Morg's version has a 'make this bigger' button--most don't.

I am thinking about pouring through some old logs from 97-2000ish. I haven't really found any information on how the formating should be. By that I mean, what should I prune from the log before submitting it? Also, do these go to the staff for approval/review when they are submitted?

I probably have a couple logs that are from things that are on the history page and may be pretty intersting (it will just take alot of digging to find).

There is no offical formatting, but cleaning out the excess "spam" is always good. I recommend looking at a few logs up on Org. Sub. to see if there's a way you like.

Yes, staff does approve them. Anything "uber sekkret" should be pruned.

I'd love to see some older logs, personally.

This is my absolute favorite log ever, probably my favorite scene ever, with a character that was definitely in my top five. I'd like to give some greatly-belated shout-outs, here.
Everyone in this scene was perfect. The imm providing me with echoes, I'm pretty sure, was Shalooonsh, the Sun Runner imm at the time. I received just enough info to figure out what to do without feeling like I was being led by the hand.
Queyne was the perfect little sycophantic half-elf wannabe. Unfortunately, he dropped link halfway through the scene (that's why he never answered Slaa's questions).
Slaa was great, too. The image of him shouting and demanding answers from the stone monument will always stand in my mind as the perfect example of what the Soh are. "Tell me what's going on here, unknowable supernatural force, or I will friggin' stab you!"

Then witnessed the Agent go destruction mode and flip the tables.

Awesome.

I remember being on some a Kadian Silt Horror hunt under Sharlo.
Weather was horrible so we ended up giving up... for some reason we ended up at the far end of the Silt road.

Gage decides to go off after a black beetle in a horrendous sandstorm (couldn't see from the room the beetle was in, but we could watch from farther north).
Being able to WTF pwn a huge black beetle in blind solo melee combat while wearing only boots and a loincloth = winning Armageddon.

I was there when Tektolnes laid his sword at Gage's feet, after Gage beat up Chuck Norris.

And keep in mind that many of Gage's fans don't admire the guy because he was so tough, it was because he was so weird.

Gage is high of up on the list of my favorite Arma characters, and I'm very happy that one of my PCs was killed by The Man. But it wasn't his combat skills that made him a memorable badass. Gritshaw was most likely a special app, given some advantages to compensate for his refusal to wear armor. (more props if he wasn't, or if the advantages were minor in nature)

The same character, same personality quirks, would have been almost as awesome without the coded ability to pwn. (though obviously, wouldn't have lasted quite as long)

After carefully rereading the Lapitia and Thialle logs three times, I have come to the important conclusion that they are some of the best logs I have ever read. I feel they should be a television show or that Egan and Medena should be writing novels about scathing aristocracy together. I am inspired and belittled.

Aja (Rairen) has some beautiful stuff as well, which I was very pleased to see, since I was never able to play with that character as much as I really wanted.

(Of course, I also have logs, which you should not neglect, as they are certainly very amazing, too, and epic - You lunge at the sleek, sun-kissed young woman, but your blow is deftly deflected by a crimson and grey striped skirt.)

I found a log of the strip kruth game between Zaea, Zharal, Flip, Markie, and Lao.
If you aren't familiar with this, the most epic of all Kruth games I've played, you should be. I should clean up the log and submit the whole thing...
Lots of good stuff there. I'll extract a few of my favorite lines and put them here, since they don't classify as one-liners for that other thread.

QuoteAt your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish, nodding at the coffee-tressed young woman while she fills another snifter:
"I hear he keeps to the Estate most the time."
At your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish, laughing softly:
"With spice and silky concubines, why leave?"

QuoteAt your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish, fluttering that hand dismissively:
     "Okay okay. Strip kruth."
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish, peering over at the sturdy, midnight-haired woman:
"Jus' watch? I think we got us a fake Fale."
At your table, the sturdy, midnight-haired woman says in sirihish, waving a hand dismissively:
     "I failed Fale."
At your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish:
"On account of her trippin' an' fale-in' down the stairs."
The sturdy, midnight-haired woman laughs.
At your table, you say in sirihish, shaking his head, a glimmer of mirth in his eyes:
"Tha' fale't awful t' my sense o' rhyme!"
At your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish, with a long sigh:
"I try to be clever, to no a-fale."

Quote
At your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish:
"So I guess if we run out of stuff to take off, we're out eh?"
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish:
"Five pieces... top, bottom, cloak, boots 'n belt."
At your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish, wiggling her feet under the hem of her skirt:
"Ooh.. I get to keep my slippers on, huh?"
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish, smirking at the short, dusky woman:
"Ya know wha' I mean, ya daft gypsy."
At your table, you say in sirihish, shrugging:
"I don' wear a belt much..."
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish:
"Ok, lemme rephrase it fer all ya pain in the asses. Wha's coverin yer chest, wha's coverin yer ass. One belt, sash, 'r whatever the hell ya got round yer belly.
What'vers on yer feet, and whatever ya got draped round ya ta keep the sand off."
At your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish:
"But I have on a belt and a sash."
The braid-bearded, auburn-haired man grits his teeth, looking close to dropping the deck and walking off.
The sturdy, midnight-haired woman looks amused.

QuoteAt your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish, wryly:
"Guess who just found my mind."
At your table, you say in sirihish, rolling his eyes:
"Azel. An' I bet shit 'e's got money, an' ready ta strip."
The crimson tressed, athletic man has arrived from the south.
Yawning, the crimson tressed, athletic man says, in sirihish:
"Hey, heard there was a party goin on"

QuoteAt your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish, chuckling:
"Now I know how Markie feels."
At your table, you say in sirihish, dryly:
     "Ogled frequently?"
At your table, you say in sirihish, continuing with an unrelenting tone:
"Frequently bothered by men? Sexy? Witty? Ya gotta...oh."
At your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish, winking at the short, dusky woman:
"A gal has to stay abreast of fashion."
At your table, you say in sirihish, peering into your green glass brandy snifter:
"And a good fashion-er, well, they stay two breasts ahead."
The sturdy, midnight-haired woman snorts a laugh at you.
The braid-bearded, auburn-haired man looks at you, and just shakes his head.

QuoteThe braid-bearded, auburn-haired man deals a Kruth card: the Sun of Death to you.
At your table, you say in sirihish, sighing:
     "Well -fuck- me."
The sturdy, midnight-haired woman bursts out laughing.
At your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish:
     "Say please nice enough."
Not even bothering to wait, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man passes his green glass brandy snifter to the short,
dusky woman, and kicks his boots off.
At your table, you say in sirihish, groaning as he discards your Kruth card: the Sun of Death:
     "-fuck- me nicely!"
At your table, the coffee-tressed young woman says in sirihish, setting her Kruth card: the Wind of Truth down:
     "Wait, who lost here?"
At your table, you say in sirihish, glancing towards the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man:
     "You....you..."
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish, glancing around the table:
"Now ya all know the policy... wha' appens in the Raptors stays in the Raptor."

and finally

QuoteAt your table, you say in sirihish, grunting as he glances towards the short, dusky woman:
     "How'd you know?"
At your table, the short, dusky woman says in tribal-accented sirihish, to you:
     "Know what?
At your table, you say in sirihish, a glint of mirth in his eyes:
     "Tha' it's called the Raptor?"
The sturdy, midnight-haired woman's mouth twitches.
At your table, the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man says in sirihish, smirking:
     "Short 'n striped?"
The short, dusky woman stares at you for a while, then at the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man, then just starts giggling helplessly.
The coffee-tressed young woman bursts into laughter, tossing her head back.
At your table, you say in sirihish, with a smirk to the braid-bearded, auburn-haired man:
     "But fuckin' ferocious, too!"

Actually, given what I've read in the next segment of the log, I probably should clean up the log and submit it, this was hilarious.

I have a log. I should submit it.
This is one eighth of part 1 of 9:

Quote>l
The Higher Tier Stands [E]
These are the western and more opulant stands of the fighting pit of
Luir's Outpost, whose black stone walls and strangely horned buildings are
visible to the east. While the walls of the pit below are built of stone,
the stands are wooden. Rows of benches fill the lower section of this area
of the stands, with cleared areas for hawkers and those taking and making
bets. A gracefully canopied section against the uppermost row of the stands
has properly cushioned chairs and is obviously set apart for those of some
standing.
A terrace staircase opens up to the east and leads out of the seating
area and the view below is of the red-stained sands of the fighting pit
itself.
A shadow falls over the area, driving off the uncomfortable heat.
Lined up with the best view of the stage is a cloth-padded wooden bench.
The tall figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak is standing here.
The trim, amber-locked woman is sitting on a cloth-padded wooden bench.
The tall figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak stands by a figure in a leather duster.
The tall figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak is standing here, looking a bit winded.
The very tall figure in a dusty orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak is standing here.

>l tables
At 1) a cloth-padded wooden bench are:
the trim, amber-locked woman, and a few empty seats.
At 2) a cloth-padded wooden bench are:
the effeminate, pompadoured man, and a few empty seats.
At 3) a cloth-padded wooden bench are:
     a few empty seats.

Down in the pit A pack of wild gortok scatters across the pit, each one snarling and spluttering form.

>l e
To the east is the Terrace Overlooking the Fighting Pit.
[Far]
The callous, thorn-inked man is standing here.
The pale, vermillion-eyed man is standing here.
The horribly thin young woman is standing here.
The thick, war-braided young man is standing here.
The flint-eyed, jasper-haired man sits here, smelling strongly of spice.
The slender, raven-haired man is standing here.
The ruddy-hued brown-haired woman is sitting on a long wooden bench.
The horribly scarred, blind man is sitting on a long wooden bench.
The huge figure in a desert-colored sandcloth greatcloak sits quietly on a bench, atching the crowd.
The tall male wearing a thin, grey-sandcloth facewrap is sitting on a long wooden ench.
The tall figure in a dusty set of hooded, shadow-grey robes sits in a bench here.
The small, tanned dwarf sits in the center of the first row of benches.
The blue-eyed dwarven woman oversees the stands here.
[Near]
The tall, willowy woman is standing here.
The tall, spindly man is standing here.
The aquiline, blond man stands sentry here, his blue eyes watchful.
The opaline, frost-haired half-elf is standing here.
The huge figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak is standing here.
The gargantuan, blonde-haired man is standing here.
The rugged, dusty-blonde haired man is standing here.
The ragged-maned half-giant is standing here.
The wiry, war-braided young man is standing here.
The weathered young man is standing here.
The tattooed female dwarf is standing here.
The plaited, emerald-eyed woman is standing here.
The small-headed, dark gray dwarf is standing here.
The young gangling man is standing here.
The decrepit-looking, worn dwarf is standing here.
The lithe, brown-haired young man is standing here.
The buxom, red-haired woman is standing here.
The slight, blonde-haired man is standing here.
The whipcord thin man stands here, eyes narrowed.
The fire-haired, ruby-eyed man stands near the railing to the pit.
The rugged, goateed man is standing here.
The runic, blood-toned half-giant is here, looking extremely tense and wild eyed.
The fat-lipped, large-headed dwarf is standing here.
The burly, cobalt-skinned dwarf is standing here.
An obese, beady-eyed man moves around, hawking items from a tray of food.

You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"I'll probley be out of the match first round."
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
    "You're entering?"
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"I guess it wouldnt hurt for maybe a round."
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"Five hundred coins per entry, one thousand per team of two."
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"I'll also need names, either stage or real."
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"And I should pay you, sir?"
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
    "Barvel and my self sir"

The trim, amber-locked woman lowers the hood of a sleek, crimson leather duster.

The trim, amber-locked woman tugs down her hood, her features set into hard lines as she gazes down into the fighting pit.

Down in the pit someone opens the doors from the other side.
Down in the pit a wild-eyed mul has arrived from the south.
Down in the pit the huge figure in a veiled sandcloth turban has arrived from the south.

>l fianna
A thick mane of dark amber hair falls past this human woman's shouldersin waves, save for her bangs which are trimmed in spiky chunks to frame theperidot-hued orbs of her glittering eyes. A feral, yellow-green in color, they peer past the long veils of her golden lashes above the refinedcrescents of her cheekbones. A sensuously full mouth resides beneath theaquiline ridge of her nose, shadowed lightly by the slight flare of hernostrils. Accenting the otherwise feminine features of her face with astrong, square line is a stubbornly-set jaw that leads down to her tonedneck and shoulders. Beneath the covering of her tawny-gold skin, her petiteframe is shaped with a layer of toned muscle, giving her small body a solidbut graceful appearance.
The trim, amber-locked woman is in excellent condition.

The trim, amber-locked woman is using:
<worn in left ear> an earring of glittering black glass
<worn in right ear> an earring of glittering black glass
<worn around neck> a bejeweled, black leather choker
<worn across back> a black silk shoulder bag
<worn on right shoulder> a grey leather pauldron
<worn on left shoulder> a grey leather pauldron
<worn around wrist> a twisting, jade serpent
<worn around wrist> a silvery woven, black silk wrap
<worn on right finger> a chunky, topaz-set bone ring
<worn on left finger> a jet-inlaid marble signet ring
<worn around body> a sleek, crimson leather duster
<worn on legs> a pair of tightly-stitched scarlet leather pants
<worn on right ankle> an onyx serpentine anklet
<worn on left ankle> a silvery woven, black silk wrap
<worn on feet> a pair of calf-high scarlet leather boots

You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
    "For five hundred coins?"
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
    "You and barvel?"

Down in the pit The largest of a pack of wild gortok, a beast with feral red eyes turns toward the southern doorway, eyeing a wild-eyed mul.
Down in the pit A wild-eyed mul is shoved roughly onto the sands.
Down in the pit someone closes the doors from the other side.

The tall figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak stares down towards the pit.

You hear a man's voice shout from the east in sirihish:
    "FUCK YOU!"
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
    "Yes sir, as a team"
You hear a man's voice from the east say, in sirihish:
"Is that how much it costs to register?"

>emote slides down along ~bench, crossing an aisle, and over to %fianna bench
The effeminate, pompadoured man slides down along a cloth-padded wooden bench, crossing an aisle, and over to the trim, amber-locked woman's bench.

>sit with fianna
[Standing first]
You sit down on a cloth-padded wooden bench.

The tall figure in an orange-crested, grey sandcloth cloak looks down at you.

Yup, I'm definitely going to submit this log:

Part 13 of 35

QuoteA Small Office [E]
Many shelves line the walls of this room. Some have an occasional tablet
on them, but most of them are empty of tablets and dust alike. Odd objects
rest here and there, drawing the eye. The floor of this room is composed of
large squares of worn boabab wood that creak softly at each step. A single
lamp hangs from the wooden ceiling in the middle of the room.
A large, darkly-stained agafari desk presides over one side of the room.
A simple agafari chair is drawn up behind it, with a couple more standing in
front. Several small rugs of finely woven dark-red cloth cover the floor.
A keg of fiery amber-orange liquor is here in the back.
A brown wooden keg is here in the back.
A thin, curving bone cage is here hanging over the dark desk by a bone chain.
A barrel made of wood sits here.
A couple of casks are here.
A sturdy, chitin-banded acacia lockbox sits in a corner.
An ornately crafted, silvery-grey display case stands here.
A trunk sits here, made of bone and woven grass.
A hefty wooden barrel sits here.
A small wooden barrel rests here.
The tall figure in a crimson-trimmed, long black cape is standing here.
The young, stumpy-legged dwarf stands alertly by the dark desk here.
The scarred, white-haired half-elf stands on guard over the lockbox here.

The tall figure in a crimson-trimmed, long black cape closes the door.

The tall figure in a crimson-trimmed, long black cape moves around the front of a darkly-stained, agafari desk.

>l in cage
In a thin, curving bone cage (here) :
a tiny ebon scorpion

The bearded, pepper haired man lowers the hood of a crimson-trimmed, long black cape.

The bearded, pepper haired man sits down at a darkly-stained, agafari desk.

>emote glances about the room
The effeminate, pompadoured man glances about the room.

>say That's a lot of alcohol.
You say, in sirihish:
     "That's a lot of alcohol."

>l tables
At 1) a darkly-stained, agafari desk are:
the bearded, pepper haired man, and a couple of empty seats.

>sit at 1
You sit down at a darkly-stained, agafari desk.

Gesturing to a seat, the bearded, pepper haired man says to you, in cavilish:
     "Please, take a seat."

The bearded, pepper haired man nods his head slowly.
>l in keg
It's less than half full of a golden liquid.
>l in 2.keg
It's less than half full of a murky yellow liquid.
>l in barrel
It's about half full of a brown liquid.
>l in 2.barrel
It's more than half full of a clear liquid.
>l in 3.barrel
It's full of a red liquid.
>l in 4.barrel
You do not see that item here.

>talk (to ~xeno) What are we doing here, again?
At your table, you say in cavilish, to the bearded, pepper haired man:
"What are we doing here, again?"

The bearded, pepper haired man says to you, in cavilish:
     "Talking about the earrings"

>talk (nodding) Oh. Oh yeah.
At your table, you say in cavilish, nodding:
     "Oh. Oh yeah."

>talk (blinking slowly, his tired, greenish-hued gaze shifting over to %xeno ivory and emerald earrings) Oh. Those. Six hundred a piece.
At your table, you say in cavilish, blinking slowly, his tired, greenish-hued gaze shifting over to the bearded, pepper haired man's ivory and emerald earrings:
"Oh. Those. Six hundred a piece."

At your table, the bearded, pepper haired man says in cavilish:
"Six hundred, after I waited almost ten years?"

>talk (blinking slowly) Oh, yeah.
At your table, you say in cavilish, blinking slowly:
     "Oh, yeah."
>emote rubs his eyes slowly
The effeminate, pompadoured man rubs his eyes slowly.
>talk How about you give me a smoke, then? We'll call it even.
At your table, you say in cavilish:
"How about you give me a smoke, then? We'll call it even."

>think I'm not thinking straight.
You think:
     "I'm not thinking straight."

The bearded, pepper haired man opens a wide, black canvas backpack.

The bearded, pepper haired man gets a richly-stained, dragon-engraved spicebox from a wide, black canvas backpack.

>think I need a good night's sleep.
You think:
     "I need a good night's sleep."

The bearded, pepper haired man gets a glass serpent spice pipe from a richly-stained, dragon-engraved spicebox.

At your table, the bearded, pepper haired man says in cavilish:
     "How about this instead?"

>talk (shaking his head) Naw.
At your table, you say in cavilish, shaking his head:
     "Naw."

>talk I enjoy the taste of paper.
At your table, you say in cavilish:
"I enjoy the taste of paper."

At your table, the bearded, pepper haired man says in cavilish:
     "Fair enough"

The bearded, pepper haired man gives you a solidly packed tube of spice.

>examine tube
A small white paper has been carefully rolled to contain a pinch of
spice. The consistency of the black, viscous spice that appears to be
inside gives the smoke an overall bulky appearance and looks as if it would
burn at a slow and even pace if ignited.

>talk (lifting up ~tube) Wonderful
At your table, you say in cavilish, lifting up your solidly packed tube of spice:
     "Wonderful"

>open kit
Ok.

>put tube kit
You put a solidly packed tube of spice inside a svelte, black spice-kit.

>close kit
Ok.

>talk (shrugging) Okay. Is that it?
At your table, you say in cavilish, shrugging:
     "Okay. Is that it?"

Man, I liked me some Silif.

I'm editting a log right now that pertains directly to him but is actually uhh... some stuff that happened after the PC was gone. Let's just say the log is badass and it took me awhile to find it.

Will most likely take me awhile to edit it too.

QuoteYou ask the scarred, ashen-haired man, in sirihish:
"You think I can -eat- after seeing that?"

The thin, cream-braided young woman pauses.

The scarred, ashen-haired man says to you, in northern-accented sirihish:
     "Yeah."

You exclaim to the scarred, ashen-haired man, in sirihish:
     "Hell yeah!"

I've put up logs from this event. Note - these were my own logs and as such are a little different from most players. I split the log in to parts based on which NPC I was inhabiting to try and lesson the confusing feel of them. I've also left in some of the things that staff see that players do not, to give a more rounded view of what was going on.

It's when I was playing Agent Oseres Kadius in 2003~2004. It's long, and has combat spam in it... But I don't care, because it shows off the game and how it works.

In case you just want to see Him:

This large man towers at least eight feet above the ground, much larger
and taller than most other men. From his head, crimson braids, the color of
wet blood upon a battlefield, cascade down his massive, muscular back. His
features appear to be the work of some master sculptor, where every nuance
must be pleasing and familiar to the eye, the flat planes of his face
chiseled and stern, yet personable and illuminated with perfect health. His
tan skin almost seems to glow with a brilliant light, and his dark eyes seem
to be filled with endless depths of wisdom, knowledge, and humor regarding
all they survey.
The immense, crimson-braided man is in excellent condition.

<worn around neck> a sunburst decorated silk shoulder-cape
<slung across back> an old runed, ivory-hilted steel greatsword
<worn on torso> a loose tunic of white silk
<worn around wrist> a ruby-set silver bracelet
<worn on right finger> a bejewelled golden ring
<worn on left finger> a ruby-jeweled golden ring
<worn as belt> a white and flame-red silk scarf
<worn on legs> a pair of white silk pantaloons
<worn on feet> a pair of silver-toed leather boots

It would be smart to note that it is unlikely that commoners or even nobles think about their Kings as Sorcerers. Not impossible, but unlikely. In the back of your mind, you might know, but nearly never at the front of your mind.

Also - if you take the time to read the staff stories written about Muk Utep you would get much more of a clue as to why Muk Utep could do what he did. Yes, he's a power emoter but he's got the skillz to back it up.

Like Venomz said - your in game characters are very very unlikely to ever equate sorceror or anything else so lowly to their God-King. Tek and Muk are just that, deities, royalty, above it all.

It gets more funny if you know the back history. The Rinthi kid, Cross, was convinced that whores existed only to stab people (and no, she did not mean with that sword). Any and every whore exisited to get you naked, so they could stab you, and then steal your money. In an effort to convince her that whores were fun and did not stab people, Pearl hired a whore. The whore proptly draws a blade and stabs him. Amazingly enough, this only re-enforced Cross' notions. ;)

You wish up during the scene for immortal assistance, and they load the objects, kill the player, make the echoes, and so forth.

That's not to say they'll oblige if you wish up about running someone through when you should just fall back to the code, but... in this situation, the aggressors decidedly had the upper hand.

And to expand on this some, that specific event was a culmination and a critical point for a lot of different plots, so the immortals knew very much so what was going on, and I wouldn't even be surprised if it was set up with staff, too. Not the outcome, but the event itself. Immortals don't usually assist players in killing one another unless it's like in this case, where the effects needed weren't outrageous and giving anyone an upper hand, really.

Your best bet, for interactions like this, is to keep your immortals informed with weekly or bi-weekly updates about current plots, that way they're well-equipped to help you with things like this.

Shit, I submitted that as a story. Should've been a log! Also shouldn't highlight every...well, nevermind. You know how the submission tool can be. It took a lot of time and editing but I submitted the bios of Thrend. They are subjective as hell, and midway through I switched to first person because it felt more personal than third person. I am a bad biographer and did not submit several things that should've been written about.

That Rascally Kishime
by Arithon
In this scene, Lord Templar Kishime Fale is having a conversation with a fellow Blue-Robe, Lord Templar Didrik Tor. Lord Didrik had recently found a magickal necklace on an expedition outside the city, and had claimed it as his prize. Today, Kishime asks him if he has fully deciphered its meaning yet. When Lord Didrik answers 'no', Kishime asks politely if he may see the necklace in order to inspect it. It's a trick.

Aww, you're welcome. I should really submit some more logs soon, but the last time I tried it did wacky formatting stuff. Also I'd like to submit them all at once, and there's so much crap to look through.

Guys, remember to always make a separate log file of an event right after it occurs. It will save you so much time, you have no idea. Also, if you add the date immediately after it happens, you know exactly when you can submit it.

I'm going to have some pretty stellar logs in a year plus, let me tell you.

That's because in fact, it's not a word by definition, it's slang. Google+Searching=Googling, Fuck may be considered a word, but it's actually an acronym standing for 'Fornicate Under Command of the King' refering to a decree by James I, I think, in response to a decline in the population due to several decades of war. After it became to boring to say out fully, people were just told to, Fuck for England, which in turn, just became Fuck.

Give it another five years by todays standards and it'll be in the dictionary.

I guess I'm about a month late, and normally I'm not even the type to call for attention. However, I thought some people might find two things about this log interesting. First, it features my wife and I roleplaying together about two or three years before we met in person (a point up until which we hated each other) and second, the players of both other pcs came to our wedding.

Ain't the Armageddon community grand?
