Merchant skills

Are merchants supposed to start with crafting skills? My PC started with three other then cooking and none of them are going to be of much use as far as careers go.

Is this a bug or do all merchant PCs start out with the crafting skills no one ever uses?

Within certain guilds, you have skills that 'branch' to other skills.  Once you get 'good' or 'proficient' or 'excellent' at certain skills, you will have other options for you to try out.  Eventually, you will be able to do more.  But you can't, just yet.

That's where the subclasses come in.  They help you flesh out your character even more, by giving you more optional skills for you to try.

It's a flawed system, because certain skills will never be 'opened up' to you if you don't work on the skill that branches it.  But, that's just what the system that we have here in ArmageddonMUD.

Here are some good links to check out:

Good luck.

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

You can just start finding the materials you need and make a few useless baskets you can sell. After you get really good at making your useless things, better things become available. Another path would be to start travelling and using the bartering aspect of your skills to make money.

Remember, everyone starting out sucks.  Merchants starting out suck just like everyone else...so make your sucky stuff so that you can learn how to make better stuff later.

I have played many merchant characters and I have mastered the branching of each of their skills to a point. It just takes a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of danger, unless you join a house. Money, to buy supplies, danger, if you go and get the materials yourself, time, in case you join a house, it will probably take longer cause you are limited with what you can work with (not exactly sure), and time for the time it takes to branch and such.

Just be patient and you will be rolling in sids in no time.
uppers.
