Decaying of corpses

Not sure if this is new or not, as I left and haven't played for a while, but I do notice now that if you leave corpses on the ground, they melt into the ground or something.

Is this to prevent stockpiling of bodies?

Reason I ask is that there are times you're trying to get a person with the skin skill to come skin stuff for you, but he or she isn't available, think it would be nice if there was a way to preserve the corpses so they didn't melt into the ground so quickly.

Primarily, they became their own item type (rather than a container)

Depending on the weather/area the corpse is, it will degrade at different rates.

I am trying to find more sources, but it was updated within the last two years.
