Hi, how about just make it impossible to steal if you're carrying something too heavy?

It does seem reasonable that an encumbrance of impossibly heavy might at the least give a penalty to stealth.

And don't worry, I'm pretty sure someone can't use the 'steal' command easily on a couch you're carrying, because it's too heavy.

I doubt climbing out a window carrying a couch is particularly a wise idea...
