Modifiable clothing for Armageddon.

So do you think this is a realistic goal to shoot for in the current game? Is it something that is useful to the game, and worth the effort it would take to put in. Discuss.

wear hat head {twisted to the side} (Reaching up and twisting it to one side)

Reaching up and twisting it to one side you place a black silk hat on your head.

The slant-eyed, weak man is in excellent condition.

<worn on head>       a black silk hat (twisted to one side)
<worn across back>   a bone-studded backpack (hanging over one shoulder)

Something like that.

Honestly I'd rather see the ability to temporarily modify a character's mdesc (tdesc).

You make me lol Morgenes.

But then again, I'm kinda drunk atm.

Anyway though I think it's a nifty idea, and if we have time to code poop into the gameworld I don't see why we can't do something like this.  ::)

I'd love to be able to change clothes, wear a wig and some facepaint, put on some fake elf ears, and actually get away without anyone actually know who I am.

I'd absolutely love it if this happened in Arm 1.

Theres a lot of room for abuse on this one.

>drop pants
You do not have that item.

If SOI can handle it, so can Armageddon.

There's a lot of room for abuse in emotes, and in modifiable clothing, and in any idea suggested.

It would be obvious what is added on by the player and what is the immortal-approved description.

So if you see someone abusing it, should it get implemented, log it for the imms and report it.

Like shadow mentioned, SOI's had this feature for quite a while, and I can't say I've ever seen somebody use it in any way that could be considered even mildly inappropriate.

The only reason I might not be keen on it is that mdescs are long enough as it is, so I'd hope it would have a reasonable character limit, such as maybe the same amount of characters as an emote gets. That way you can add a line or two about your PC being beat up, sleep-deprived, covered in filth, pregnant, freshly-tattooed, suffering from a non-coded illness, etc.

Yah, it's just weird when someone's RPing that they're preggers, and you on't realize it, because they haven't thrown out an emote about their stomach in a while so you didn't know it from just looking at them.

So, this, good.
The man asks you:
"'Bout damn time, lol.  She didn't bang you up too bad, did she?"
The man says, ooc:
"OG did i jsut do that?"

I love the players of this game.
That's not a random thought either.

I wouldn't mind tdesc at all. It would indeed convey current information about your character that is temporary ... it would help paint a picture even better.

I also support the addition of something like a t-desc.

But as far as clothing goes ... I like the OP's idea as well.

It's got my vote.  Both ideas do.

I'm glad that more and more Arm players are actually trying out other RPIs like SOI, it will stop the old "If it's not from Arm, it's a bad idea" argument that people often use around here to shoot down
ideas.

Bigger sdescs, bigger emote lengths, classless system, these are all ideas that some of you will see that could function on Arm if you play there a little.
/derail

I absolutely love their TDESC system as well, and like others said, there's really no abuse of it, actually, I'm always amazed at what people can come up with there.. Switching hairstyles daily, or describing
how you took a beating and your face is swollen, and not just in POOR condition, these are just some of the reasons why I like it so.

I also like the clothing idea that the OP wrote about.. Someone mentioned that it's already long enough as it is, but it's vertically long, not so much horizontally, let's aim to make it a perfect square! ;)

QFMFT.

I love this idea.

And I'm still voting YES to tdescs. I don't understand why it hasn't been implemented yet, we've been asking for it for YEARS.

I don't always act superior... but when I do it's on the forums of a text-based game

My first post on this thread was actually to show that I do not like the idea of being able to add a desc to how you are wearing an item.

I doubt if many of you remember or have even thought about when the descripters for dirt and such first went in. They did not used to stack like they do now. and caused enough spam that they got changed to stack so you only saw one at a time. Why, because of line wrap. Which is what I showed would happen if people could change the desc. That or it would be implemented with a low enough char count as to make it useless and people would complain about that.

To be clear, a nifty Idea that I do not want to see implemented.

I suck at reading, or something. But it'd be nice if you made the why clearer. I have no idea what you're talking about with dirt, and stacking descriptors.

Right now, let's say you have an obsidian longsword, and you kill something with it.  It'll now be "a bloodied obsidian longsword."  Now, then you get into a bad sandstorm.  The dust covers up the blood, making it "a dusty obsidian longsword" until you clean off the dust, then it's just bloodied again.  Before this, it would be "a dusty bloodied obsidian longsword."  You can see how that could get out of hand.

However, I'm still in favor of little added-on descriptions regarding to how you're wearing an item.  Maybe just limit how many such tags you can have at once--sure, it's arbitrary, but it'll limit spam.

I see. Yeah, that could certainly get annoying.

Hmm. Though some items do this anyways...

*shrug*

Having spent some time thinking about this problem, and how to get the nifty feature in without making huge lists, consider this. Using the same syntax, wear item (message), we could try this:
