When I played Doshek, there was this one potential named "Ratpiss".

He was fucking awesome, from what little I saw of him.... Like.... He pissed himself while walking-- as if it were nothing.... He was dirty, nasty.... Overall, a picture of what more 'Rinthers should be.

My shame?

I accidentally got him killed.

And when I went to send him kudos, I didn't have his sdesc, so I couldn't send him kudos. :(

So if you played Ratpiss-- Just know that I thought he was awesome.

Probably the biggest reason in favor of keeping those gamey lists of character sdescs is to facilitate kudos. Really sucks to send someone kudos, and the response is "Sorry, you don't have the exact sdesc and it looks like the name you gave was an alias."

Also a good reason not to purely use aliases with your characters. ;)

I cheered when a character my character owed a lot of sid to died. I then stole his boots.

Vennant doesn't appear to age because he serves drinks at the speed of light. Now you know why there's no delay on the buy code in the Gaj.

Maybe if you'd paid them sooner, they could have afforded better protection.  ;)

Because they left a 'will' to have Bleak's character killed, in case of their untimely demise.

I'd like to point out to everyone that I have not once received a complaint from noobs in my years of interacting with them.

Ah, my first email from Sanvean... but I was, by Arm standards, quite a noob myself.

However, I've never actually PKed.  (This, too, is a Shame.)
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong.
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.

I play when I work. And once I was pounding on a training dummy (as you do) throwing emotes out and such, and then suddenly I needed to work. And then I forgot about Arm.

Sanvean emailed me telling me this is Bad, and I got a stain on my player notes. I swear I wasn't twinking! (Did I post this already? I forget)

(That's my brag)

I didn't bring a gift!
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

So many old shames. I haven't touched the game in over a year so these probably aren't spoilers anymore, and I'm forum-lurking because all these memories make me feel a strong urge to try again.

My very first character was completely one-dimensional due to my own outright fear of the world and of looking like an idiot. The fear, I imagine, didn't change the results much.

My second character ended up bumping into some tribals (?) that cast a spell to make her understand their language (I was so freaked out I forgot I was supposed to be afraid of all this), and they were then kind enough to try and give her food. Except since I always prioritize wisdom first (I can't stand playing lackwit characters) I had an agility that meant I could carry 4 items max. And I had been walking around, exploring and picking plants. I totally locked up, unsure of how big of an idiot I'd look like if I just started dropping everything in my arms to pick up what they were giving me. The two PCs were very nice and patient, though, and helped relax some of my insecurity.

Third(?) character, the only one I've ever had get hired into a guild and the most long-lasted, had a eventful life both of shame and pride. She was hired on as a hunter (and she was a ranger class, so I figured I'd be fine) but because of aforementioned prioritizing... she couldn't kill a jozhal. Seriously. Her knives could not pierce their skin. She would eventually run out of stamina or get REALLY low on health and retreat, and (without my knowledge) the jozhal would run to the gates of her city and get killed by guards. I got chided for doing that and it's still humiliating. Probably have a bad account mark for it somewhere. Eventually, her badass mek-killing boss died. New boss? Supposed to be her. Shit.

Because of her terrible stats, there were several times where she had to outright run from any NPC that so much as looked at her funny. Because of the way pathfinding was back in the day (and I really hope it's different now) she'd end up leading Predator XYZ to city ZYX across several miles, on accident yet again, resulting in her being threatened and/or nearly executed on the spot by the relevant authorities.

Minor spoiler in the post above.  I, for one, didn't know that spell existed.  You should probably edit it out.

What was described doesn't exist as described.  Furien only described what it seemed like happened.  Find out more IC.

Still, it may be best, Furien, if you edit that bit about the magick out of your post.

I feel like such a skill twink today. But only today! And all for good reason.  :-[

There is nothing wrong with improving your skills, or desiring to improve your skills, within the bounds of realism.

Being a good roleplayer doesn't mean that you have to shun the code, and I'm getting baffled at the apparent trend on the GDB that working on skills = twinking out. Not only do I hate that word (twink), I think people are just getting way too damn paranoid. It is okay to want to play a character who is competent at the coded things they do.

Yeah but... logging in exactly every 90 mins to practice, log off, log back in 90 mins later? All day? That's shameful.

But I swear there's a good reason!  :-[ And it's all emoted and stuff. I'd stay logged in between too, if I had the time.

I was at a party with Utep once. I sang a song about sandwiches.

oh and here's a free videogame.

Shame: I stored an ex-Byn deserter who was in the Kuraci fist because my play times had dropped and I felt his plot had kind of run out, only to find out with my next character that the sergeant I deserted from was very much still alive, influential, doing awesome stuff. No doubt I would have eventually been hunted down and executed in an awesome way.

I deprived the game of Plot and Conflict. :(

I was not at a party with Utep... ever.  :(
