One of my favorite Rinthi characters drank a strange liquid for absolutely no good reason. *BEEP*

My most favorite Rinthi character attacked someone in an area protected by crime-code, for a trivial reason.  Firstly, I wasn't aware that particular spot was protected by crime-code. Secondly, I thought I had no save arrest in it's proper position. Apparently not. *BEEP*  Additional shame: this character had (a couple RL hours prior) just survived a situation where I thought his death was certain.

I had a new character with pretty good stats, so instead of doing my usual stupid with the character, I had him dutifully grind for coins until the guy was twinked out with decent armor. Marched to a distant location to enlist with an available Byn Sargent.  One RL hour after enlistment, he was drunk out of his mind and so was unable to flee from the city guards after he tried brawling in a tavern without brawlcode implemented.

People were going OOC: "Type nosave arrest on. Type flee".  I had already done so, frantically.  Kept tripping due to extreme intoxication.   The character's last words were, "Oh well." *BEEP*

My first magicker, who was actually a special app I waited like a month and a half on.

Anyways, I play him for like 3 months rt, don't know how many days played, but he had all sortsa spells at the highest level and was actually somewhat dangerous for being a vivaduan.

I confused and forgot the sequence for a spell that created an item for me, and cast a spell that harmed me, at full power, and knocked myself out.

Came to to see a scrab, which I normally could obliterate, go

A scrab wounds your neck
BEEP

My first ranger I spent tons of time grebbing salt to get weapons, armor and a mount. I then go out to get some scrab and fall off the shield wall. I then wander elf lands until a anakore raped me. What did I learn? Never spam walk when anywhere NEAR the Shield Wall, ever since I have gone one room at a time and always double checked which way the road was.

Krath and his fucking minions killed my one and only mage at less than a day, for ... well, nothing.

To be fair, it was an accident.

My longest living, most interesting and most powerful character ever was killed by a snake.

So I had this assassin with uber stats...like everything above extremely good.  He was supposed to be a poor, dirty scumbag, so I was intentionally keeping him poor by buying tattoos/spice/other expensive perishable items.

Well, I had worked my way back up to about 800 'sid by finding dead newbie corpses, and I run across this NPC who attacks me and barely kicks my ass.

For -some- stupid reason, I got all worked up about it, and I decide to go buy a bunch of armor and decent weapons to kick this NPC's ass.  I guess I figured the only reason he spanked me was because of my complete lack of gear.

So I go back for round two, and the fucker aces me -hardcore-.  I mean, I was reel-locked from the first stab.  Zero chance of escape.

Boy, that was fucking embarrassing.

Another time, we're out on this Byn contract to kill this giant, really dangerous monster.  We go out with like 3 half-giants, a unit of Bynners, with some Tors or Borsails tagging along.  When we start fighting the damn thing -nobody- can touch it.  I mean, its defense is so pumped that it's even dodging the half-giants.  So, being an assassin, I figure "hey, maybe I can throw stuff at it."  So I have like 5 throwing knives/chatkchas, and I toss them all.  Unfortunately, this only gets it to about moderate condition...so I pick them all up out of the room and repeat.  Probably about 5 times.... ::)

So now, it's at terrible condition, and I'm like, "hell yeah, I'm going to ace this thing with a sweet-ass backstabby coup de grace."  Of course, I miss, and the HG that was tanking flees out...and I get chomped in two bites.  :'(

I'm pretty sure I was on that same Byn contract. I just remember thinking...damn we are all going to get chomped by this thing...until I saw a bunch of throwing weapons slowly chipping away at it. I was all impressed...you know, until the ultimate chomping took place.

To be fair, it was -ridiculously- fast, the giants had no chance. I was one of said giants. Ouch.

To make it better, the reason he killed me was I tried to...

Steal Pants

The only item the beggar had aside from his bowl.

This was back when you could still attempt to Steal things that you obviously wouldnt be able to get, such as a pair of pants someone was wearing while still awake.

First character:  Burglar  Died IN the jail cell.  Fortunately I had read enough to turn nosave arrest on.  but sitting alone in the jail cell, in the dark he A grabbed and lit a torch so he could look around.  The guard opened up the jail cell and considered it a weapon.....

Second character:  Ranger,  killed by a ring-tailed jozhal, amen.  No she wasn't weakened from fighting a scrab, or unarmed.  She lost that fight fair and square.
Only through hard work and perseverance can one truly suffer

Fleeing from a brown snake for your life and not being weakened by anything else.

I nearly died.  Thank Krath that the snake didn't enter the wagon...

I LOVE having 35 year old ranger characters that cant kill snakes, yompars, or colt duskhorns.

It just makes me feel all warm inside.

I had a PC get knocked out by a beggar in one hit. Bastard had a wooden stick on him and hit my PC's head in the very first strike. I still reckon it was a dimension/time traveling shaolin monk of some sort.

Still, it took a good five or so minutes for him to slowly beat my unconscious elf to death.

I get excited when I find "newbie" torches laying on the ground.

Especially with my ranger pc's. I enter that mindset that "Everything is useful" in a survival situation.

It usually gets to that point where I look in my pack and see six torches and finally I just have to junk three or four, because its getting to be too much of a weight concern.

Until some guy like me comes along and picks up all 24 of my newbie torches. Then what will I do?

I will only have the three I keep on me.

I once had a ranger that ran around salvaging a ton of gith gear in the Tablelands and then just sat in an abandoned wagon trying to craft torches.

I checked again, many months later, and the pile of stuff was still there.

I wasn't paying attention during combat once.

I tabbed to another window or answered my phone or something for some reason.

When I returned my attention to Arm, my 82-days-played ranger had been KOed by a gurth.
And I vanish into the dark

My characters very rarely survive longer than 5 days played.  Usually, their deaths are due to gross negligence on the part of their player.  For example, a special app'd character of mine was quite thoroughly carru'd because I opted to take the time to look at the bastard.  It seems like the more interest I have in the character, the higher the chance that character will die a horrible, shameful death to an NPC.

I've never killed a PC, and I don't think I've ever been responsible for the death of a PC even tangentially.

Also, I have never been killed by a PC.  Ever.  Even one time when my character was attacked by a PC first, the killing blow (according my account notes) was dealt by an NPC.
