I hear old people here in Louisiana listen to music like that all the time.... Maybe they were Tulukis in another life....  :P

Thats not... Well, I don't want to get verbally abused on the board but, I figured tuluki music was a bit... not that.  ;)

Technically that's cajun music, not zydeco. Similar roots and influences though, the two styles are kissin' cousins.

Tuluki music most certainly has much in common with American traditional music like cajun, Appalachian, Scotch-Irish, etc. Fierce rhythms, tribal twang, virtuosity, lyrics about all the bad stuff in life * ...songs of pain and darkness that still make you want to get up and dance. That's Zalanthan life at its finest.

* I don't know what the lyrics in the video posted are, but I'd bet money on lost love, dead love, jail time, murder, or a wrecked family.

Actually, I'm not sure if that's Tuluki music, but I did want to plug Beirut which, to me, has a very Armageddon feel. Maybe it's more like Muark music, since he's very influenced by gypsy/balkan music.

Now for some Allanaki music.

Ignore the modern stuff, the rap, and pretty much anything Gentleman does. But I think Sandal's turkish parts and some of the music, especially the drumplay and flute, fit really well. Always imagined southern music to be close to turkish / oriental tradition.

p.s. Tuluk sucks. Play bards in Allanak! Come on someone! Tuluk has been done to death, people should develop nakki music before the world ends.

OMG, just found this and absolutely have to add. Just the first 30 seconds though. The first half minute of this song is perfect for Allanaki music, imho. The rest is too pop-songish.
