Are domestic skills important?

Ok, Im not looking for the ol' "find out IC" type answers.  But after trying a lot to find out any sort of IC information Id just like some reasurance that there are craftible items avalible.  Ok, for the very few (im starting to figure out why) chars with cooking and flower and domestic skills, are there a lot, little, next to none things to make?  

Ive tried to analyze a lot of things that seem craftible, but evidently they are not.  Ive tried to mix and match crafting a few basic items, but it never says I can do anything with them.  So is it just that Im not very skilled, or is there little resources to make few items?

As your skill grows, you will be able to make more stuff.

Let's think of it this way:

You're a horrible cook.  Do you think you could make a chocolate bar?  Probably not.   You could make some eggs, though.  You make eggs, and experiment with the different styles of making eggs.  You might throw in some peppers, or some bacon, and it'll taste good, and you might throw in some cheese and some milk, and something goes wrong, and it tastes bad.

Eventually, you'll start making egg sammiches.  mmm....sammiches.

But.  As time goes on, and you keep experimenting and making mistakes, you'll learn how to be the best sammich maker ever.


Just keep at it, and eventually you'll be able to make stuff.  Eventually, you'll be able to analyze things that -before- you couldn't.  As the skill increases, you'll be able to make more things.
