I think there should be more links to the important mechanics and command issues from the Introductory Info page on the website. There is a document called 'Are you new to online games?' but fromt here it doesn't direct a player new to online games to information regarding mechanics once they enter the game.

They are redoing the website for Arm2.

Rofl. I don't need them. I was just...trying to introduce a friend to Arm. But I didn't have time to really guide him around, so I gave him the link to the website.

But then I went to check out the website, had a poke about the Intro info, the getting started stuff...and frankly thought that if I wa new to muds, which I'm not (good ten years under my belt), I'd be clueless, and that I'd probably give up before I managed to find the info on the site.

Arm2 is gonna be 6 months, not hard to stick a few links to useful pages on the Intro page, 2 minutes at the most, and it'd only take that long if you had to teach yourself html first.

The problem with the link that you posted, is that it doesn't tell the player that they need to point in the HoK, that they need to type 'sit' to sit or 'n' to walk north. The real basics that can be a little confusing to grasp when you are 'utterly new'.

Arm was my first mud and I had no freaking clue how to do anything... the docs helped me learn about the world and how to play my roll, but the help with the game's mechanics was minimal at best. I figured it out by trial and error.

I'd played similar browser-based mud-type games before so I knew the vague concepts, but it was overwhelming.
