Your most satisfying deaths

As the original poster for "Your most dissatisfying deaths" post, I've felt just a little bit, eh..unhappy about not adding what I originaly wanted, that being another section for your most satisying deaths.  I made the other in a time of depression and just couldn't bring myself to get out of wallowing in some form of self pity

Anyway, mine:

Can't realy remember when this took place, but I was running a character that was makeing a living by tradeing back and forth between Tuluk and Allanak.  I was on the north road when a group of Raiders stoped me and demanded all my goods.  I made a brake for it and manage to keep ahead of them and climb up a cliff to get away.  Upon reaching the top of the cliff, I find myself faceing a rather hungry looking largish creature that should NOT have been there(must have been led there by someone trying to get away).  Anyway, I run back to the edge of the cliff, loose my balance and fall over the edge.  I hit the ground, regain my feet, only to have the raiders attack me.  During the fight, the beast actualy falls from overhead and, upon regaining it's feet, decimates both me and the raiders.

Not much RP during this, but I still get a warm glow whenever I remember that scene and the shouts of "Oh FECKING SHIT!!" when the thing hit the ground.

I dont know if it was satisfying or just because I knew it was coming so it made me laugh. I had a pc once that got into a situation where a noble ordered them in to investigate a place. OOCly I knew exactly where I was and that it was -not- a good place to be but ICly my pc didnt know squat.  She reported back to the noble waiting outside whom in turn ordered everyone in thinking to trap the quarry he was after. Needless to say, we all died.

*chuckles*

I still find it humorous.

My single most satisfying death was that of my Borsail aide.

A magicker scared him off so he ran out of Allanak and hid out in Tuluk, without bothering to deny he's a former Borsail employee.  The poor guy.
After being forced into slavery by a Lirathan, he was eventually disappeared because of his sheer disloyalty.
It was a prolonged execution, and I really loved it.  Best death ever; I had dreams about it for almost an entire year later.

I find that my most satisfying deaths tend to be the executions, so long as I have enough time to react and get both my character's inner and outer monologues going.  If the executions are too abrupt, I don't get that sense of closure and it's much less fun afterwards.

I've had plenty of really cool deaths really, and other deaths that are both incredibly awesome but very heart-rending - I personally don't count a death as a good death if it leaves me with a strong heart ache.  Either way, executions ftw.

I've never had a satisfying death.   :(

My ideal death, however, would be long, public, and bloody.  A prolonged arena execution, or public torture with a sermon by a templar.

Well, I suppose those are realistic, satisfying deaths.  I suppose we all dream of going out in a very cool way, like grappling an elder sorceror and jumping over the shield wall or something, but such fates are very unlikely due to both the code and the setting.

I died in the arena once. It was not very happy for me because it was with a fairly new character that I had a lot of plans for. Having been falsely accused of being a mindbender, there was basically no way of surviving once the templar's pet HG grabbed me.

However, there is something fun about dying in the arena. Everyone is watching you. Everyone gets to see your emotes. The dull roar of the crowd yelling for your blood helps send the helpless situation home. Plus the templar in question was very well played, and that made what would have been a very OOCly frustrating situation a fun and scary IC situation.
eeling YB, you think:
    "I can't believe I just said that."

Oddly enough, the two I enjoyed the most were my two shortest-lived characters.  Both at the hands of other PCs.

One of them (my very first character), died in prison in a pretty unusual way.  It wasn't a big elaborate scene, but I appreciate that the other player put some creativity into the way it happened.

I'll be a little vague about the other one.  It came after some bad luck that eventually brought on a very unpleasant day for my character, to say the least.  The ultimate end was in front of a large audience, which made it loads of fun.
So if you're tired of the same old story

Without being too IC, it involved base jumping off the shield wall in a brown military aba, a destroyed wagon, and the inhabitants therein. It was so n00b, it just amuses me to no end to look back on.

I had a character for a long while, who eventually left Blackmoon to join Borsail in a more powerful position in life.  Eventually died in the prison of Allanak with two red robes and two blue robed templars.

Not too many people leave a group of ex-slaves raiding gang to join a rich noble slaving house.

The other one was dying for the last half of his life, and finally had his face kicked in by his old drinking buddy friend.  And I swear that I didn't know he was going to kill me when he did.

I haven't had any particularly interesting deaths. In fact I've mostly stored or died to NPCs or the environment in boring or ridiculous ways.

My most satisfying death was dying in the arena...before my two newbie hours were up.
Child, child, if you come to this doomed house, what is to save you?

A voice whispers, "Read the tales upon the walls."

D-elf tribe, running to somewhere in my character's lead, gets surrounded with nasty beasties.  Trying to defend the tribemates and shouting "RUN!  RUN AWAY!" and fighting ferociously for their safety until they all flee away or drop dead...

EDIT:  Though I had very cool close to death scenes with another character.  Do they count?
some of my posts are serious stuff

Mine was when I ended up in the sewers(not telling why) and almost escaped(finding many secrets) and finaly died when he almost was out(not telling how) :D .

Mine was when I ended up in the sewers (not telling why) and escaped (with many secrets) and escaped the massive bounty on his head only to run afoul of gith on a spice run.

Mine was when I played a (not telling) who was sent to attack (not telling) and survived it running afoul only to die from (not telling). I got resed because it was a build bug, and then died when I was captured by (can't say) and the person who had me subdued coup de graced me (he swears he typoed).

Borsail recruit (just made private) who was tossed in the larvae pit by a NPC templar and half-giant.  The pre-torture session and infliction of pain by the guard, along with the brutality of the guy's Sergeant made it a truly wonderful rp experience. :)

Once Naiona appeared before me and I typed 'hug naiona' just for giggles.  She killed me!

This was my most satisfying death because she killed me during the grace period and I was therefore ressurected.

True story.  Ask her if you don't believe me.  I hugged her.  She killed me.  Just like that.

Satisfying deaths...well, one would be when I was playing an aide in Borsail. Died to spice overdose under the order of my char's boss, watched by a group of Wyverns.

IT was an interesting death, I mean hey...whoever heard of being force-fed with spice before? ;) To this day, I'm really grateful for the creative way Borsail thought up on in killing off my char. Gave me a chance to rp out accordingly even though oocly I was like OMFG NO!!!

Another one would be when my unfortunate char was poisoned by a halfling (NPC) and was left to die in the forest after losing all her stamina. Though it was entirely solo rping, I had fun rping out her puking her blood and innards out until the mantis head poppped up.

I remember thinking to myself, "Hey, since I'm going to die anyway, make this as interesting as possible"

So I did...by trying to emote out the most grisly details as the halfling poison spread through her body.

Running after Carru, catching them, then eating them while they are still breathing is a Red Fang's version of 'fast food'.

My very first character was a few hours old and just getting to grips with this amazing new world around them.
When i say "getting to grips" I really mean "getting very drunk" in a tavern with some friendly looking faces.
After blowing most of my character's starting money on booze i stumbled out into the street and wandered up and down the road, head spinning and belching merrily.
Passing by the same tavern 5 mins later, i spy one of my new-found drinking buddies engaging in some fisticuffs with a guard. "Hey!" I drunkenly think, "Ma besh pal's gettin' a kickin, I' d besh 'elp 'im out. Hick!". So I whip out my trusty axe and pile into this soldier.
2 hits later i'm laying in the road five cords away from my head, which is laying, severed, on the other side of the road.
Note for newbs... stay off the booze.
quote="Dakkon Black"]Found salty oasis. Actually mek pee.[/quote]

Most satisfying was way to recent, but it was really public, humiliating and gory.

Second most satisfying was fighting to the death in the arena, dying when I know my character could have lived had he not been so careless.

For me though, no deaths are really that satisfying. My characters tend to want to live.

I've posted this story a few times on the board before, but I never get tired of repeating it.
My character was a tough Byn sergeant, out in the desert on a fairly standard mission with a very green newb recruit. My character began to puff his chest out, regailing the runner with the many grisly stories my PC had accumulated during his long, fairly eventful life. I told him about the horrors of gith, of sand raptors, of dehydration, and then moved onto the topic of desert tarantulas. I said something to the effect of:
"Now, a lot of people are worried about meks and shit. But a mek you can see coming. The real danger is gith, and scrab, and especially tarantulas. I've seen more people die to tarantulas then I'll ever see see die to meks."
Moments after I said that, our party was beset by what must've been at least a dozen tarantulas. The newb escaped, but I was ripped to pieces. The timing was just perfect, and whenever I look back on that death, I just have to smile.
I hope that newb is still playing. What a story that must've been, from his perspective...

Most interesting death, wow there are a -lot-! One stands out though above all else, which left me with a proud aura.

My character was a Borsaili Sergeant, his lover was a Borsaili Lieutenant whom were both hired fresh from the Byn. My character was long lived and was pretty buff for a warrior (not really though), anyways, his IC brother was a magicker and got into some trouble, since the bond was close between the two brothers, my character attempted to help him out and succeeded. His brother was not executed, but the templars ended up capturing him and held him until I gave myself up to them. So being the -NICE- guy my character was, he gave himself up to the templars, who made his brother watch his 'death' in the arena. The death was suppost to be to the prized mul <not saying his name>, which at the time was on the ic board in the tavern for anyone who can defeat him would win a 10,000 coin purse. I was tossed in the arena with my blades and killed <the mul> in one-on-one combat. The crowd was stunned and I was acting all bad and shit, emoting my ass off -- then the trap door opened and the Gaj that came out ate me in two hits :)

Needless to say, the point leading up to the death gave me a big adrenaline rush. Thanks for everyone who planned that thing :-P

Doing something bad which caught the attention of specific people, and after an exciting headhunt I was brought to justice in a fair, realistic and interesting manner.

Holy shit, I remember that. That was the most badass arena event I've ever seen. I think my PC bet on you...

Just so that I'm actually contributing: My most satisfying death... was almost six years ago when I was very very noobish. My only death to a PC. I was a super twink elven pickpocket back in the day when pickpockets could steal just about anything. I made a shitload of coins, bought a lot of silk clothes, went out to the rinth looking to join the guild and ran into a PC who took great pleasure in ending my twinkish life.

I wish someone would kill my characters more often. I end up being overly cautious and storing my long-lived characters, or being overly brave and die to something silly.

My happy, wily 'rinther was making his mornin' rounds, a happy jaunt through the alleys when he enters a room to see this...

The uber scary magickal dood is floating here.
He's glowing WHITE!!ONe1
He is surrounded by FLYING SCARY THINGS!
He has a RED AURA!(EVIL(TM))

So, without delay, my wily 'rinther most skillfully books it, sprinting across the labyrinth while shouting 'waaaaaahhhh!' at the top of his lungs. Minutes pass and distance is achieved and just as I begin to relax I start flying through the air, all the way across the 'rinth, and then back and forth through a bladewall as a certain spell was cast and recast.
I was gigglin' too hard to feel sad when I died.

I had an insane character who thought he was a krathi, but actually had no magickal ability whatsoever.  One aspect of his neurosis is that he wanted to burn down Traders.  His first attempt got him arrested, thrown into the Arena, where he cowered away from the thieves sent to fight him.  He survived (for being a coward I guess?) and was enslaved.  Being crazy, he tries to burn down Traders again, at which point he died just outside of Traders.

Oh, god. My first char. ever. It was a great -but shameful- death. My Byn runner had just spent the morning sparring with some of his good'ol mates, then he walks into the mess and:

Think "man, I'm really thirsty". I lookat the tables and notice a bottle on one of them. I take it. I sip it and it says, [to this affect] "It tastes strange, as if it's been tampered with." I think to myself that it's just my imagination, so I just chug the entire bottle without a 2nd thought.

A few minutes later, I'm vomiting all over the place, unsure of what's wrong with myself. Sarge #1 runs in. Shouts, "Oh feck! He's dyin!" Sarge #2 runs in. "Feck!"

I get lead around by one of the sarge's for awhile, before I puke again and suddenly - MANTIS HEAD.

Another Death. A friend and I are sneaking into a cave, owned by several raiders. We run off with mount 1, 2, and 3. Raiders notice. We scream and scatter. I'm loaded down with all of their belongings, but none notice. We fight, I beat a few back, then disengage and run my arse off.

3 spaces away from a city's certain gates, I'm exhausted. Here comes 4 figures in hoods, riding on mounts. One says, "I'm gonna bleed you good" as he draws a club. Another one chants at me. I say, "Yea. I know" and sigh, as I draw my weapon and make my last stand.

The char. after that one wanders out towards the sands to do a bit of mining, then suddenly discovers my last char.'s head.

I enjoyed laughing at the Irony.

This is a friends death which was interesting.

I had a certain child character in the Wyverns that was pwnzor at combat, my friend decided to make a twin brother of mine (we roleplayed it out) anyways after a while the brother (friends char) rp's going crazy and me and this guy in the clan have to hold him down... so yeah... me and the brother char fight, he goes unconcious, wakes up and freaks out and attacks me, i retaliate and well... you probably know what happens next... my character cried for many days. My friend laughed. It was emotional.

Also, the child char later went on to become a certain 'arena fighter' which was great roleplay, my sponsor had a magicker cast spells on me, so I went out and owned several monsters in the arena with ease, eventually though got a mekillot to terrible and it owned me. Didn't die then though, blamed a death of a friend on a certain house and magickly died a few hours later *hehe*.

Omg, I was a rinthi this one time and I was caught disrespecting a templar so they used me as a test dummy for how much spice a human could take before he went insane. Well, I took <several> and became nearly superhuman, feeling no pain and extremely sensitive to my surroundings. The templar then, after I survived, took me to the arena and had me fight, i beat everything then when he was gonna let me go i opened my big mouth and he threw me back into the arena, but this time it was much more interesting. he entered the arena himself and made a big public speech saying how he was gonna slay me, but in the end he was nearly dead, sadly I died. BUT that was my best death ever.

Unfortunatly I mostly die to stupid crap like gith, but there have been a few pc kills that were really cool.

I had a zany ruk once that honestly thought he was some kind of prophet and started preaching his head off to people. Well one of the people happened to be a Nilazi who really didn't care much for rukkians. I won't tell you what happened, but heh.

There was also a clumsy ass elf I had that was captured by the templarate with his brother. He was subdued and the templar chopped at his neck and took him to 1 hp. Hilariously enough the templar let me live and carried me around the city for a while, then to the dungeons, then outside, all the while I was emoting having my head literally barely hanging on. Heh. Once he was tossed out onto the sand it was all over for mister 1 hp left.

There were a few others that were cool, but mostly because I found something big ICly that pwned me.
A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic.  Zalanthas is Armageddon.

I know this is going to come back to bite me in the butt one day, but I've only had one satisfying death...you know, it sucks to have long lived PCs sometimes.  You don't get the "I got speared by Lord Fancypant's guards while escaping with a treasure trove of metal shinies that made me turn invisible" stories.  You get all sorts of really neat near-death experiences.  Maybe we should have a "Close calls" thread, but only for things older than a certain date?...

My best death yet..

Bob the krathi branches a bunch of awesome new spells

bob the krathi goes to buy a shirt in town

bob the krathi is gone for just a minute, a girl showed up at his house

bob the krathi is gone still because his player is currently sexxing up the next room.

bob the krathi starves to death while sex session takes place.

"Welcome to Armageddon."

This death is fairly recent, but overral my character has not interacted with 'any' PC his whole life which lasted about ... 3 hours I think.

Anyway, a young dumb pup buys a map to Steinal and goes there thinking Steinal treasure is the solution for his life's troubles. Now, he's young and dumb by the backstory, so he goes there with very little water (2 waterskins), loses his kank before reaching the salts and does not turn back. Suprisingly, the guy just ... does not die, he manages to survive the meks, the worms, the other critters. Eventually, some Imm helped him liven up his last hours with some wonderful interactions, which helped the young character to realize how stupid and callous he was. Witout a doubt, if he returned to Allanak, he would've lived out his life in a much wiser, mature, and balanced way. Alas, he obviously didnt make it back, dying to a thing of no importance.

It wasnt the death that was most exciting, it was the whole 3 hour long story of the boy who went looking for Steinal to find wealth, but found wisdom and death. Hum, that even rhymes =)

One died from poison, a rather foolish mistake after his long involved history, but that was my longest lived character.

My greatest death, in-game, would have to be when my tor scorpion turned on his pursuit in th' copper wars. That's really all that needs to be said but he was out of moves. - I have tah mention they wanted to take him alive at first but not after a few minutes of trying to bring him down. :P
And when they say that I am dead and gone, it won't be further from the truth..."

My most satisfying death happened with my first character, and within the first 20 minutes of my first time entering Armageddon. I was playing a thief, and had absolutely no idea how the crim-code worked, so I decided to try to steal from someone. Soon after a group of soldiers and a PC Templar showed up and began questioning me, I can't really remember what the conversation was about, but it ended in me being thrown in jail. After finally getting out of jail I was completely lost, and then out of nowhere another PC shows up and starts asking me if I needed any help. I thought it was awfully nice of him so I accepted his offer and started following him. We eventually ended up in what I'm assuming was his apartment, and he told me to wait in one room while he went and got something out of another. While I was waiting I kept thinking about how nice this guy was, then all of a sudden he shows up and murders me. I'm still not sure what I did to gain the attention of an assassin, if he was one, but it was pretty amazing.

Sounds like a robbery, not an assassination.

Which is pathetic roleplay, seeing as there is no concept of "starting" coins IC.
your mother is an elf.

Unless they had peek and saw the coins..

Dont be so cutndry with what you think is good rp hearing only one side of a situation and a brief one at that, whether is be a newbies death, or a templar executing over red-eyes or whatever.  There could be a hundred ways to explain a situation that you dont see

That might be true, but I like to pretend it isn't, makes the situation seem more romantic  :)

It would never have happened if I knew then what I know now, there's absolutely no way I'd follow a stranger to his apartment today, I think that's what made it so much fun, I had no idea what I was doing and the whole situation just seemed so amazing, back then I felt like I had really made someone angry enough to hire an assassin. That's what made me create a new character, I wanted to become the person doing the hiring, not the one being killed  :)

In my opinion, there 'is' such a thing as starting money. An absolutely OOC thing, but it still exists. And I believe even the Imms agree that people should not pull things that only work on newbies, only because they know they're newbies. I remember when Hymwen began playing and her first chara got rolled up in the first couple hours, stripped of all the 'starting' coin and so on, the playerbase was outraged and told her on these forums that this wasnt exactly a right thing to do to newbies, advising to send logs and so on.

It's not so much the part about mugging a new player, it's when the way you do it is OOC-motivated. Two example scenarios:

I would consider this fair (but a bit mean if the offender knows the target is brand new):
Amos the Newbie, born and raised in Allanak, is walking down the street wearing his newbie clothes. Someone decides to mug him and roleplays it out, holding the guy up and giving the guy a roleplay experience that could actually have happened to his character.

I would consider this unfair and despicable:
Amos the Newbie, same as above, is sitting in the starting room in the Gaj. Someone walks in and offers to take him to the grocer, Amos accepts and follows the guy, who then leads him in the opposite direction to a room that Amos realistically would never have followed anyone to, and does a sloppy job of roleplaying the robbery.

The difference is that the first example could have happened whether or not Amos was new or not, it sucks and it's not what I'd want a new player to see as their first interaction, but it's plausible. In the second example, the robber uses Amos' obvious lack of game knowledge against him, and rushes him into a situation he wouldn't have agreed to if he knew what was going on.

A similar situation that has happened before: guy from Clan A knows people from Clan B wants him dead. Someone tricks the guy into following them, and then speed-walks to Clan B's compound too fast for the guy to be able to codedly stop following, and locks him inside so they can kill him with no risk and no opportunity for the guy to roleplay. It should never have happened because there's no way the character would have followed. If you suspect someone did something for OOC reasons and is using code or someone else's lack of game knowledge in an unrealistic way, the best thing to do is to send a log of the event to the staff and describe what the problem is.

Well, that went from being a really fun and satisfying way to die, to being a really dull and shameful way to die.

Yes! Mission accomplished! My first character had a near similar experience really, albeit ... different I suppose. It was an adolescent pick pocket who walked into Barrel's second floor within maybe the first half hour of him playing. He was quicly picked up by a PC whore, lead to a private room, almost forcefully shagged (Adolescent, so I just ... stood still, eyes wide and stuff), then caressed on the cheek and told to sleep. I knew I'll wake up without those 1k 'sid, but I slept anyway. It was still kinda fun, my first and last non faded sex in the mud.

Oddly enough, about an 'hour' later, I was picked up by some merchant who pretty much pronounced me her future aide. She gave me half a large spending money, clothing (Not silk, but pretty spiffy stuff) and a specific instruction not to enter the 'rinth. She was in a hurry, so she didnt really explain what 'rinth was, so it took me awhile to figure it out and enter it. Obviously I died like ... instantly, considering the type of clothing she gave me.

gj team. Pretty sure this is the "satisfying deaths" thread.

Oh well, even if it wasn't the kind of cool assassination I thought it to be, it was still fun. I got to be questioned and taken to prison with my first character, which is something I haven't been able to duplicate yet. If I would've just been killed by a bunch of NPC soldiers and left to rot then I might not have been so excited about returning with a new character. Even if the guy that killed me was just after my newbie coins, it was still a PC and he did sort of roleplay with me. I remember one of the best parts being that I was an elf and had no idea that I was speaking a different language than the templar, he kept ordering me to speak Sirihish, but I had no idea what that was. That's the best part about starting a new game, you're such a n00b that you have no idea what is going on, and everything seems so magical and mysterious. Now that the mystery is gone, the game is still fun, but not quite as magical as it was with that first character.

Same thing happened with EVE online, with my first character I opened the universe map and saw the hundreds of different solar systems and almost went into shock. I couldn't believe how huge the game world was. Then, as I leveled up and began to understand things better, I realized that each of those solar systems were basically the exact same thing with a few graphical tweaks. It wasn't exactly the most amazing game world ever once I caught on to how the universe worked.

I guess all games are like this though. It's the virginity problem. No matter how many times you get busy with someone, and no matter how hot or good she is in bed, it'll never be as exciting as that first time.

Okay, I'm going to stop there... I just compared Armageddon to sex, and now I should probably take a nap.

Now here's where you're wrong, buddy. I have played Eve online, and I fully understand what you mean. But Armageddon's a bit different in that most places here 'are' different. Tuluki and Allanak 'are' extremely different, and standard behaviors in both cities differ somewhat. Desert Elven tribes are even more different, and so on. So nah, I doubt you've extinguished all the novelty from armageddon, you just began. It's just this time, you do not end up facing something wondrous of this manner right off the start, you have to little a little. But it'll come.

All I can really say is thanks Ashyom     It was bloody, gruesome, one hell of a surprise and a fitting way to end what has been my favorite character.  I suppose maybe after Arm 2.0 gets operational I might actually be able to give some details  :P

Yeah. I had a friend, Vivaduan, just branched all his spells after practicing, gotten everything done, was out mining, so he minimized the screen to go to the bathroom, while he was gone a scrab came in and slowly killed him, he got back right when he was close to death and typed flee and it blocked and finished him off.

My most satisfying death was getting killed for an IC reason that I understood, agreed with and was made aware of upon the demise of my character.

My least satisfying death was the exact opposite.
