changing clothes

Idea for a new command: eqset.

The Problem: It's amusing, once, to strew your stuff all over the back room of a seedy tavern and spend a couple ZT hours sorting back through it.  But the modern Zalanthan man and woman have schedules to keep, places to be, people to kill-- they can't spend a whole day debating whose is the inlaid leather bracer and whose the cuirbouilli snood.  And so, all over this harsh planet of ours, people's love lives are degenerating into a dissatisfying "em fusses with !me pants.; em does something; sleep."

(Virtuously: of course, I always fade-to-black.)

A partial non-coded solution is possible--one can buy enough Portable Holes to hold all one's gear, and type up a couple screensful of wear/remove/puts, copying and pasting as necessary to put on and stow the appropriate equipment for any given occasion.  But this is inelegant and messy to watch.

The Solution: "eqset n", where n is an integer from 1 to 4.

Step 1: Put on your work clothes. Put stuff in containers as desired. Primp your hair.
Step 2: Type "eqset save 1".
Step 3: Put on your par-tay outfit. Stuff the armor in your ruck. Load the +7 Dagger of Slaying in your dainty mek-hide slipper. Type "eqset save 2".
Step 4: Strip down. Wrap that wispy web of sandcloth around your toned middle. Hide the Dagger of Slaying in your long, wavy hair. Type "eqset save 3."  Hallucinate wildly when the Dagger of Slaying slips and scratches your neck.

Going to work?  Type "eqset 1".  Out on the town, or assassinating that fascinating young man at the ball?  "eqset 2".  Got a more, uh, private assassination in mind? "eqset 3" is your friend.

When you switch sets, onlookers see two kinds of messages: a generic "changes clothes," and then messages detailing any movement of objects that are weapons or are not wearable.
The wavy-haired chick changes clothes. (Always shown.)
The wavy-haired chick sheathes a scary dagger.
The wavy-haired chick loads a koala tooth in her brassiere.
The wavy-haired chick gets a ZipLock(tm) bag from a large backpack.
The wavy-haired chick gets a pinch of spice from a ZipLock(tm) bag.
The wavy-haired chick hides a pinch of spice in her ear.
The wavy-haired chick brandishes a rubber chicken.

What do you folks think?

I think clientside macros would be just as good for this sort of thing.

Yeah, I guess so.  My real problem is that I'm wearing so darn much stuff that it won't fit in any one container.

I originally saw this command (minus the informational messages) on a H&S Diku, and it *was* pretty handy, although the motivation there was to be wearing the right magickally Constitution-Boosting equipment at the moment one leveled up. ;-)

Time for Ava to see-sharp her .NET, I guess.

I used to have a set of scripts in TinTin from my H&S days that would allow me to swap into one of 4 different sets of gear, mixed and matched through various containers. Just really big 6 line aliases.

The application in the realm of INAPPROPRIATE ONLINE RELATIONSHIPS is compelling.

I had about 20 macros when I had my Kadian Merchant.
