Change to "Rent"

Had an interesting issue which would have sucked had the pc been an ass.

Was resting up against my kank in a stable (sheltered from the weather, faster recovery) after doing some hard work.  Had a fellow come in and "rent kank" and even though my kank was hitched to me and resting, and would have prevented someone from mounting it, the stupid stable guy took my kank and gave the fellow a ticket.

Rent should be only able to be done while hitched.  That way you make sure it's the owner, (person in control of the kank or whatever)

No sir, I tested it with an IC friend of mine, hitched her and my kank, jumped off and told her to rent.

She did and got two tickets.

Only way I found to stop it is to pack a pack of some type on it.  Then the fellow tells you to unpack which the unhitched person can't do

if the kank has no pack on it, and is hitched, and in the stable, it can be rented by anyone.

PS. Or I am horribly bugged in some aspect, which wouldn't surprise me, seeing as one of my rangers somehow branched kick a few characters back, and was told by staff it was a goofy bug.

I am just about certain you cannot rent someone else's kank. This most likely is a bug or you are not hitched to your kank.

Sometimes I have thought I hitched my mount, and because there were two mounts, I got "this mount is being led by So-so" and my mount was not hitched.  

Type hitch kank and get the message that lets you know you are leading it. I think it's that  the kank falls behind you. To be sure you are attached to your kank, walk in and out of the stables, make sure it follows you. If you are still having this problem, bug it.

FYI: Naming your mounts and using your mount's name instead of species as the keyword also helps to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

jarod, if it is indeed working as you say, it -shouldn't- be.

if you are 100% sure of yourself, after what everyone has said, I would bug it or email the mud account for clarification.

but yes, make sure you are hitching the right mount and all. Very tricky stuff. It might help to snag a helper next time you are in the situation so that they can provide live assistance.
