Trading with shops

I know that currently, you can offer one item to a shop inexchange for another, however, you cannot use your haggling skill.  Let's say they offer you 200 for item A, and they are selling item B for 210.  You begin haggling for item B and get them to lower their price to 180, then you try to trade for item A and it doesn't let you.  Anyway to fix it so they will accept an item that they offered to pay 200 for, in exchange for an item that you've talked down to below the value of the item you want to exchange?

One other idea, let's say you want item C from the shop keeper, but it costs 500.  You have item A which he offers to pay 325 for, and item B which he offers to pay 200 for.  Can you make it so you can offer BOTH items in exchange for item A?  I know some of you are thinking, just sell it, then turn around and use the 'sid, but a lot of times, the shop doesn't have the 'sid to buy your items, thus making it impossible for you to buy their's since you don't have enough 'sid, but you do have the merchandise that you could trade.  They are willing to trade one item for another, why not two or three items for another?
