The Old and Glorious

Well, I was just curious as to see how many people who join Armageddon actually stay on for an extended period of time, and also to see how many people have been around for...forever.

Now the poll is asking for people who have played that long continuously, which could probably account for a week or few of breaks, but no longer than two months of not playing.

The poll will end in 30 days, so you the newer players still have time.

Armageddon's the reason I can't play other muds anymore.

Only if I want to twink out and run around hack/slashing can I play other muds. :/ But even then I try to rp....

The date that I joined the GDB is the date that my first character was approved.  Thus began my addiction to the greatest mud ever.

That's when I started playing regularly and got truly hooked enough to make a GDB account.

My buddy got me into it in the fall of 1994. First character died a few hours in. Second character got hired on as a bodyguard for Takryn and Tasha and saw shit while galavanting around the wastes with them that I haven't seen since. I was hooked after that. I actually was reduced to tears when that one died.. (I take it a bit better now) :p  You'd think I'd be a leet roleplayer at this point, but I'm still a big newb. Best thing about this game are the constant changes. Granted I've taken some rather extended breaks over the years, but imagine my surprise when I came back after awhile and found out I needed some crap called karma to play my uber mul sorc-warrior.. that was a wicked bummer. :)

You accidentally snap newbie into useless pieces.

I hear you, Picklehead.  I'm an oldster too and am still a newbie.  I am so clueless about the mechanics of the games it can be quite sad.  The game is good enough that you can focus for years on just the role play and forget about the roll-play.

Yeah, I'm with Picklehead... was around 93/94 that I first started playing.  Ahh, memories.

If I had worked all the hours I spent on arm instead of playing, I'd probably be retired by now.

I played Takryn's adopted daughter when he was with Jen, -before- Tascha. Booya! Where are those two fools, they were great?

I started playing in early '02. And while I have taken a number of breaks, I've played more or less consistently since then. I thikn on char #43 at the moment. Crazy...

We were somewhere near the Shield Wall, on the edge of the Red Desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I'm pretty sure I started in 2002 and I'm currently on char #4.  I've probably had 6-8 months where I've taken breaks, though.

Started in November '97 and on character 57.

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

Been around since late 97 or 98.

I started playing in December 1992.  I came on staff as Halaster in December 1993.

I don't know how many PC's I've gone through.  I've got about 35 dead PC's on my account, but I also went through quite a few PC's before we had the account system.

FYI:

QuoteYou have been playing for 1063 days and 4 hours.

You've been on staff 9 years longer than me shouldn't you have more than double my 492 days and 16 hours?

There's a difference between you and Halaster. You idle for weeks on end. He doesn't :P

I kid of course

[EDIT]: I post this and now I get disconnected. I was kidding Raesanos! Really! You're a cool Imm! I love your automated apartment script.

Could you let me log back in now, please?

[EDIT #2]: Thankyou

Halaster abuses the code to get his mad skills up in short time, and logs out to avoid death and logs out when he'd otherwise be stuck solo-PKing.

That's how come he doesn't have as many hours as he should.

But then, he's Halaster. He can do stuff like that.

In all honesty this probably is what accounts for the difference.  I leave the mud on nearly 24/7 while I'm around, checking in now and then to see if I'm needed.

Can I vote now?  I SWEAR I will still be here in 28 days time!!!!!
That beauty and truth should pass utterly

My two year arm addiction anniversary will be this summer.  Yah, I know the date under my name doesn't match, but I posted under a different name for a while, and then switched when my first character died. I have, so far, had three characters during my two year Addiction. I am getting ready to start playing my fourth.

Mal: "To Kaylee, and her inter-engine fermentation system."

I miss Haldol.

I've been gone for alittle bit lately. May start playing alittle more but don't have alot of time with the girlfriend and the job and the reading and sleeping.

heheh.

First character was approved in Sept. of 02 I believe. I got to post on the old board. Not like that's much of an accomplishment.

Hmm, either there's alot of new players that aren't voting, or Armageddon has a steep drop out rate...or I'm wrong on both accounts.    I hated statistics class.

A lot of people actually refuse to read the gdb at that.
