Glitch

I can't see anything I type in when I play the game.  Makes it kind of hard.  The game still accepts my commands, but I can't see anything I type.  Any help on how to fix this?

Turn on local echo in your telnet client. It'll let you see as you type.

Then go surf and find a better client.

A better telnet client is a must.

I've used free ones, such as 'GMuD32' and 'Pueblo'

You can find them in a google search.

Also, remember:

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

Although Peublo is okay, I found ZMud to be evil, far too big a download, and weighted down with a lot of extra crap that just isn't really useful to anyone new to clients or who primary does stuff manually (such as roleplay).  :P  These things are equipped for advanced triggers and botting.

Small downloads (and stripped down, effective clients) include GMud and MudMaster (for console use) and MudMaster 2000.

I would also suggest MUSHClient, which, dispite the name, works just as well for MUDs.

I use, and I love simplemu. It isn't free. It doesn't have a split screen (though one  may be forthcoming in the next update.)

Why simplemu is wonderful:
Ease of use: I think her's (the progarm's designer is a woman) is the most intuitive of all interfaces. In Zmud I always had to find someone smarter than I to help me with the lovely triggers that make things show up with different colors. In simplemu the screen pretty much walks you through. Not only that but it's frighteningly easy to add sounds...
Anecdotally, there was once a pc with a mekillot cane. I added a noise to the occurrance of the word mekillot, (I figured that something that big you'd hear it coming, right?) an odd scary sound, a cross between a groan and a door opening. Everytime this caned pc emoted with his/her cane the sound would scare me so badly I'd all but pee on myself and fall out of my chair.)

Support:
Kathleen is amazingly responsive, answering emails in a timely manner. If you have an issue and you write, she writes back. Additionally there are forums where you can post an issue and get a fast response (often from Kathleen.)

Spellcheck:
I like their spellcheck best of all clients with this feature. You can set it to underline misspelled words in your text window. and chose whether or not you care to correct your spelling. This means I look semi-literate, but don't have to stop to tell the client I really do mean to spell ginka g.i.n.k.a.
