What is the agenda of this meeting?

Is there any?

What would -you- like to speak about?

Post a topic here.  We have a week for us to think about what you want to speak about.  Talk about anything.

NOTE:  8 p.m. PST -> 11 p.m. EST -> 4 a.m. GMT
Isn't that a little late at night?

Unfortunately, some of us don't get home from work until about then.  Last time I tried a Sunday afternoon and some people complained :(, so I'm going off the assumption that there is no time that will please everyone. We'll try this time at this meeting, and switch again for the next.

At the last staff meeting I attended myself and a few others made suggestions about making the area around Allanak more hospitable.  I like the new additions such as the plant life, but I'm not so pleased by the wildlife.  A couple months back I played around Allanak for a duration of about a month and just recently for a few weeks.  Most of my time was spent outside of Allanak and Red Storm.  No more are the days when you run into three beetle just between Storm and the Silt Road.  And no more are the days when you see four tarantula just going around the Outer Circle.  Infact, in the whole month's time I saw only three NPC's at all.  One group of gith, a jozhal, and one scrab.  Of the hours and hours I spent out there, that was all I saw.  Well, we asked for it to be easier, but now it seems like there is nothing to hunt around Allanak at all except other PC's.  Granted, this is just my perspective and is part of what I asked for.  But, it seems a bit much.  I'd like to know how other people view this situation.

Heh, recently? Because if so, you were either insanely lucky or you just didn't go far enough away from the walls. That's all I'll say about that though.

If you want a topic to definitely be discussed don't forget to e-mail Sanvean (I know it was covered in the announcement but I wanted to make sure people realised ;))

And hey, this is my first Player-Staff meeting (and I'm thankful it could be on Friday otherwise I wouldn't have made it) :)

I'd like to see the level of harshness in and around Tuluk discussed as well. Perhaps it is harsh and I merely have a preconception about Tuluk, but I think it would be a good thing to discuss.

It's not that bad at all.

Since the Pacific Standard Time Zone is in Daylight Saving Time, and GMT is not, the meeting is actually at 3 a.m. GMT/UTC.

This is somewhat misleading, Zore. While GMT itself doesn't change with daylight saving time, most people who usually live in the GMT timezone are on daylight saving time currently - e.g. British Summer Time is five hours ahead of EST and the meeting will be held at 4 am for those in Britain.

If you want to see wildlife around Allanak, go out right after a reboot.  There isn't a shortage of things to hunt (or be hunted by) after a reboot.  However some creatures don't seem to repop continuously, so if there is a long uptime the population gets a little thin.  Go farther from the gates, I'm sure you'll find something that wants to kill you.

Let's talk about balancing the wildlife. THere needs to be NOOB-killers, and there needs to be NOOB game. There needs to some rampant wildlife, and some very rare. It needs to be dangerous, but not impossible, to go about in the wilderness. So let's talk about that.

Also, let's talk about player-led RP, and ideas about what a Leader can do himself to brighten the lives of his subjects. This will affect your PB, and encourage more folks to come back to the game.

Perhaps we can speak about the economy, and ways to fix it. Let's talk about that, as well.

This is a great idea that would hopefully enrich the RP of both special apped characters like nobles/templars/etc. as well as those that grow into a role like Sergeants in the Byn and the like.

I'd also like to add to this idea the role of staff in player-led RP and what the ideal balance is.  What is expected of the players in patience and flexibility for getting their ideas turned down/changed in the RP they start and what is expected by staff in patience and flexibility to either let the plot unfold on its own or work with the player to try to get his goal off the ground, even in a modified way.

Note:  I'm assuming most people trying to do a player plot as a leadership role is clanned and therefore working with clan imms to keep everything kosher.

People around the world use GMT and GMT offsets to coordinate times, not just British people. And no matter how you look at it, mansa's GMT conversion was incorrect and had the potential to confuse just about everyone living outside US.

I'm sure the British are aware that they are not on GMT time currently.

I think dealing with magickers (in the south) would be another good topic.  Theres a big thread on the other forum that didn't seem to have much resolution.  I (and probably others) may be unclear about what the staff's intention for their place in society is.

To add to Moe's post, we might also investigate how a player should react to a Magicker, from the Northlands to the Southlands. While the magicker is a feared person in many cases, perhaps he is not feared enough in one spectrum, and feared too much in the other. How can players assist the biases that Magickers should receive? And what exactly is the conduct one would expect of these unnatural beings? Yes, let's look into that.

I think that could be generalised some more to just "how should players react to socially bad people and how should the bad people react to others? (That includes elves, half-elves along with magickers. If one of those saves your life, what is a realistic response? On the inverse, how should a magicker react to people treating them a certain way).

I've seen people have difficulty on how to react (myself included) to half-elves, elves as well as magickers.

I would like the topic of clans being brought up (As in the importance of being in one, for the Bynn's sake among others)
