Armageddon Reborn Thing

So don't ask me why, but I was just thinking back to this, when the staff split and worked on the world and created all these new races and etc.

I know ultimately it was abandoned and all that and we just kept playing here, but I have some questions if we are even allowed to ask them...

1.  Why was it scrapped ultimately?

2.  Was any of the new code/ideas from it ever brought into the current gen of the game?

3.  https://brideofson.wordpress.com/ has the last dated update of 2011.  Is that when it was scrapped?

4.  Some of the stuff they talk about in the above blog seems cool as shit, even more than a decade later, any chance any of this being introduced into the current game?

I'm sure there will be more, but I figured I'd ask here officially instead of read all the shadowboard assumptions.
"This is a game that has elves and magick, stop trying to make it realistic, you can't have them both in the same place."

"We have over 100 Unique Logins a week!" Checks who at 8pm EST, finds 20 other players but himself.  "Thanks Unique Logins!"

It was officially retired May 15, 2012 as per https://gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,43386.0.html
...We are officially announcing that the project has been cancelled.  We will not be progressing forward with a new game world and will instead be retaining what we have and continuing to staff it as per usual.

We know that staff were split between working on the upcoming new game, and maintaining the old game.  They hired new staff members to work primarily on the new game.

We know that the head producers of the game at that time eventually retired from the MUD to work on other things - June 1st, 2009 (https://gdb.armageddon.org/index.php/topic,35444.0.html)

I can make a few educated guesses why it ultimately failed, but they would be guesses.

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

Having developed games before, it probably is technical. When designing the game in your head, with the hype of the optimist love of game, you might underestimate the amount of work required. Then one quarter way into it, you realise that it has the potential to get tangled and have its own issues compared to previous version. Armageddon has a huge amount of logic built into it, which makes it not so easy to recode from scratch.

1.  Bigger project than expected, loss of interest by the people working on it.
2.  Different language, engine so I don't -think- much in the way of direct code.  But certainly some ideas and lessons learned.

4.  That's a heck of a long blog, and I've never seen it before.  Feel free to summarize specific things you think are cool and would benefit us.
