Armageddon Wiki?

Any chance of an Armageddon Wiki? The helpfiles are great, but the organization of a Wiki would be pretty ace.

Curt reply notwithstanding, the reason why is because we all enjoy a healthy tolerance of 'No IC Info', and self-police the spread of (or lack thereof) information pertaining to the game. In short, all information you NEED to know is on the main website.

I don't think he means a user-editable-type wiki.

I think he means a wiki restricted to being edited by staff members.

Basically, it would be a cut and paste of all the help files and other documents in a single, easily searchable interface.

This would solve the problem of having to go through both the helpfiles and the documentation pages (which are in a separate index) to find what you're looking for.

The helpfiles are written largely in a format that is designed to be friendly to the telnet interface, so most of them are short and sweet.  Hence, the existence of the longer documentation pages.  When we're already in a browser though, there's no reason to have the helpfiles and the documentation pages in separate locations.

Also, the wiki interface is familiar to just about everyone on the intertubes, so newbies coming in will have an easily accessible way to look things up when they need to.

That being said, it would probably be a fair amount of work, and I doubt anyone's going to do it for 1.Arm.  2.Arm, maybe.

i would -assume- as much complaint and effort players have shown toward the current documentation, that when they do the website for Reborn, it will be much more well done.

True, but I'm sure the Staff would like to have a hold on the wiki, just as they do on the GDB. If anyone posts anything they shouldn't on here, it promptly gets taken down. I'd imagine the Staff would want the same power over any wiki.

I do think the help files on the webpage are hard to navigate on occasion.  I search "time" all the time, because I'm a moron and keep forgetting how many days in the week or weeks in a month...  Just searching for "time" will put it alllllll the way at the bottom of the list.

This by no means represents official staff opinion.

If there was ever to be an Armageddon Wiki (and to be honest I've long liked the idea), my inclination would be to make it so that changes couldn't go live at all without staff approval. Anything that is too IC or just plain wrong wouldn't find its way into the visible part of the wiki at all.

Now, this isn't to say there ever will be a wiki, but if there was, that's how I'd prefer it to operate.
