Fighting with one weapon

A few styles utilize one weapon only, with the body turned so as to present a minimal target to the opponent. The off-hand is then free to draw another weapon if needed, or else be employed for striking or grappling if the combat enters very close quarters. The wristsheath hidden beneath a sleeve is a common tactic here, for a previously empty hand might suddenly have a knife or dagger in it, at a most inconvenient moment for the opponent. Exponents of this one-weapon style usually spend a lot of their time on extremely quick footwork.

Is there actually a coded benefit to using just one weapon? I've always wanted to try some more finesse-type fighting, like with a rapier, and from the quoted text I'd say that it should give a bonus to dodge, and something to portray the striking/grappling thing with the free hand. Bonus to disarm? A new skill added? I've always wanted to see a "strike"-type skill, akin to kick. But I've never seen anyone attempt this fighting style, so I'm led to believe that there's no coded benefit from doing it, which is a shame not only because it makes sense but also because there's actual documentation that says it's a known and used style.

Fighting with a single weapon in two hands certainly has some benefits. I'm not sure if there are any benefits for using a single weapon in a single hand and with no shield.

A bonus to disarm would be a great addition.

I think a bonus to disarm with everything else staying as it currently is would make sense.

May the fap be with you, always. ;D

It has to be a fairly significant bonus to make it worth the loss of a shield or a second weapon. Also, I'd like something that doesn't benefit only warriors. A dodge bonus would be neat, especially because it says that in the doc.

I think there need to be limits, fencing usually only happens with a sword. I don't think many people would think of using other weapons without a shield or second weapon. A bonus to disarm would be great if somebody did that, and dodge. For the grapple part I'd like to see something to the fact of a skill that allows when one weapon is wielded that they can grab a persons hand and pull them into their weapon, or grab the them and pull them in to hit them with the butt of their weapon. Maybe, though doubtful to be put in, something that allows a person to grab the weapon right of their opponants hand, now this is somewhat unlikely, but possible. Though one handed should get a penalty when under heavy load moreso because they can't move as much.

edited to add: Also, with the grabbing, I think there should be a penality for a failed attempt, like auto hit by their opponant.
