Can I effectively block someone I am attacking from going east?

Arm is evil.  And I love it.  It's like the softest, cuddliest, happy smelling teddy bear in the world, except it is stuffed with meth needles that inject you everytime

You can't guard while -in- combat. I believe your guard status goes away when you are attacking someone.

You win Armageddon, congratulations!  Type 'credits', then store your character and make a new one

That's a good reason to corner someone with more then one attacker (so if you corner someone, you can have one fight, the other guard).

Seems like if you came in from the only exit, you could attack them and stop them from going that way.

benefits of working in a group.
A staff member sends you:
"Normally we don't see a <redacted> walk into a room full of <redacted> and start indiscriminately killing."

You send to staff:
"Welcome to Armageddon."

Flee isn't inherently turning around and fleeing in the opposite direction. It's safely maneurvering yourself into a position in the fight where you can escape. That's why flee sometimes fails.
