Hello everybodies!
I'm new to this MUD and I would like to quickly introduce myself. My name is Alice and I study Art and Philosophie. As a part of my Philosophie course we must also learn about virtual worlds and I was told by a friend that this is a good one. I always wanted to try one myself, but never had time too do so. But this semester, I can finally try it! :D
I'm sorry for my English I'm not a mother togue speaking person, but I don't think it will be a problem because I have a good programme for spelling in my client. My parents are French and I just lived in Australia for the past 4 years before I moved back to Germany where I was born and grew up too.
My hobbis are dancing, art, theatre and suring (when I lived in Sydney).
I'm glad to meet you all and just wanted to say hello! Could you also give me some good tips about this world?
Thank you!
Welcome! Erm, tips.... That's kinda difficult. I suggest with your first character to join a clan. And the helpers are great. And I'm always willing to help too, so feel free to im me if you have any questions. :-)

Ahh... hello tortall! Thank you for your welcomes. I read the documentation and the help files on the web site. How can I contact you in the game?
Hehe, well, you can't talk to other players about the game in the game. You're playing a character who wouldn't need to know how to emote, since that is a coded thing. You can contact me, or any of the helpers, via a messaging service, most use AIM. If you look next to my name you'll see some icons. One is a little yellow dude. That's my AIM account. If you don't have an AIM account, to can get one(for free of course) at www.aim.com
Feel free to pm(private message) me as well thought the GDB(General Discussion Board, aka, this)

That link is a newbie's walkthrough that a player named mansa generously wrote up. Check it out if you want some quick tips before and while playing.
As tortall said joining a clan is helpful, and the helpers are good too.
Ahh yes! I read about the emotes. It is a little bit like dungeons and dragons, yes? I saw the order in which you should put the emotes on the website too. I will absolutely try to use them! :)
Thank you too Cutthroat! I will read that. It looks very good!
Welcome to the game! Here is a list of helpers (http://www.armageddon.org/intro/helpers.php) that you can contact outside of the game with whatever questions you might have. They're an excellent resource.
Welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay!
Join the T'zai Byn. That'll make for a good Arm experience. ;)
Welcome to Arm ... Thank you in advance for the boots and for your own safety, don't talk to Mansa. :D

Yes, I think I will do that. The mercenaries guild sound very interesting indeed. I think it will fit my character too!
Thank you everybody who posted!;)
I second the advice to join the T'zai Byn. My first character, many years ago, joined the Byn, and it was a fantastic choice. I can't think of a better introduction to Zalanthan life.
Dibs on her boots.

This is true, but the player should join whatever they feel comfortable with. New players can fit in many parts of societies and in many clans. My first char wasn't a Bynner.
I agree. I've never even played a Byn member, and don't feel like I'm missing out at all.
Cutest intro post ever. :)

It'll make collecting her boots even the more sweeter.

Welcome to the end of

Oh it's definitely something I think every Armer should experience, along with many other roles, but we're going off-topic.
Welcome to Armageddon, don't get attached to your boots or your character ;).

This may be true, but it is a good clan for newbies to join. Some clans are not newbie friendly. :(
Greetings, welcome to Arm.
Your english is fine. Probably better than some of the americans that play.
Also, if you're looking to continue learning the language, this game can be a great (though somewhat unforgiving) teacher.
I really must say that it's wonderful to see you all rally around a new player time and time again.
Alice, if you have any questions which players can't answer, please feel free to email me at shalooonsh@armageddon.org and I'll answer as best as I can.
Welcome to the game, and I hope your research goes well!
Mudding for school? Ya, I used to use that excuse too.

You should type up the assignment and post it, I'd be very curious to see the requirements of the project and the criteria for evaluation.

Any negative reviews and you can expect death for your character. ;D
Welcome to Armageddon!
I haven't played here long enough to be able to say:
"Welcome to Armageddon!"
</think "I should have thought of a cute welcoming post. I had to learn everything the hard way!">
Some of the things I've learned, which you should take as "Tips."
1.) What are the Byn? There' a bunch of bar-going assholes who start fights all the time.
2.) Who is the dragon? Simply a figment of your imagination.
3.) Where is the toilet? Ask #1.
4.) Which weapon is best? Use your hands, be a (wo)man.
5.) Why are you playing? So you can endlessly screw up on emotes for the first week!
Oh, and don't kill everything you see. Some of it fights back.
For the first week?

For the first week?
You shouldn't give everything away all at once! I could tell you that wearing a gemmed collar around in Tuluk is the best way to get the ladies, but that kind of kills the fun, you know?
Thank you for the hearty welcome!
I must disappoint some of you, because don't have to review the world or write any papers about it. It is a part of recommended course material. Our Professor says that we will understand the idea better if we try some virtual worlds ourselves. :)
See you in the game! (hides her boots)
All right, alicedavignon's professor, raise your hand.
Welcome to Armageddon.
I really hope this isn't some phishing scam.

I'm sorry, I'm not very good at phishing. My father took me on a camping once with phishing, but I didn't catch anything.
I could sell you a fake watch though. 8)

I don't think he is here. One of my friends told me about this game. :)
This kid's adorable.

Seconded :P
Haha, that reminds me of last semester where I wrote my engineering ethics and strategic leadership paper on Dwarf Fortress. I would've taken Armageddon instead if it wasn't for the "engineering" part. Also, the "No IC info" thing doesn't help in doing any research :D
