Brawl Code

Hey I was wondering just how the brawl code works and just how widely distributed is it? The way I understand it now, is if you attack someone unarmed in a tavern that is under the influence of the brawl code, you are not wanted instantly but are allowed to duke it out with said "loudmouth" that offended you. Is this correct?

Also I wanted to know if this is a code that is in all of the tavern's of the game? Or just specific ones?

By my understanding this is how it works:

Use hit instead of kill, be unarmed and you'll just swing a punch.

Its flagged in taverns that would allow that sort of behavior, use your best judgement and be prepared to pay the consequences for starting a fight.

And this also doesnt give free license to start fights, templars and militia might not look kindly even if the code doesnt get ya.

Is there a list of "brawl-able" places available?  Is there official word?

It would seem that knowing which places have occasional fist-fights, and which places kill you dead for swinging a punch should not be a grand secret.
Sitting in your comfort,
You don't believe I'm real,
But you cannot buy protection
from the way that I feel.

It's not a secret, no, but it's something you can and should easily find out in-game - so I see no reason this should be posted on GDB.  Read room descriptions of the taverns you frequent, and there should be hints aplenty.
