Did it crash?

I'm assuming the crashes are the reason there was just a forced shutdown... Hopefully a fix is being put in place. YAY!
I am unable to respond to PMs sent on the GDB. If you want to send me something, please send it to my email.

Sorry for a mega bump, but is ArmMUD lagging?

Seems so, yeah.

Appears to be done. Also it looks like a CPU/disk thing on the server itself, not a network transmission issue with just certain ISPs, since it affects everyone at once it seems.

There were a few pockets of lag around 12:30am pst and then a complete freeze shortly thereafter.

I wonder if the machine needs to be reset..

A crash would be less stressful. This wasn't a crash, just a sputter and then a complete hang.

Which means the game world is still intact and operating around our respective, un-controllable PCs as far as my understanding goes. Probably the most inconvenient server issue I've dealt with so far.

This could suck badly when I get back in :D

I regret logging off because I haven't been able to log on since (and that's roughly several hours ago).

Someone fix it. D:
I ruin immershunz.

I need sleep. Please O merciful Ginka do not consign my PC to die of thirst or hunger.

I think thirst and hunger stop when you're disconnected now.

If I've understood you correctly, you needn't fear that this is the case. When the entire game world is hung, it should stop everything, including hunger/thirst pulses, NPC movement, combat. It's like a giant pause button on everything (see Nessalin's announce). The challenge would be when it suddenly unpauses and you've closed your window. When this happens on SOI, however, the solution is to kill the hung server process and start it up again. This means the world starts empty of PCs again, much like when a crash forces a server process restart (see my sig for the time I was the first one back). It's probably similar here, so think of it like a crash that took hours to come back up: your PC isn't logged in, but you DO reenter the world wherever you left off. Which could be dangerous if you were, for example, skimming with a group buy the pilot hasn't logged back in.

Depends if it times to catch up the backlog of ticks or not. Or if it unhangs and then starts running after you've gone to sleep and you accumulate dem hungers.

Also, man, starvation and thirst should have their adverse affects swap. That'd be way more like IRL.

You don't need to fear hunger or thirst in any case. Hunger/thirst stop ticking down whenever you have been inactive for a sufficient amount of time. AFK or disconnected, it doesn't matter.

Really? Pretty sure I've seen LD PCs die to such. Recently in fact.
