Treating the coded lists of NPCs

How do you feel one should treat an NPC's listing of wares, tattoos, and their prices?

Are there etchings by every ware, marking the price in some number-based literacy? Perhaps there are tokens or pebbles for every coin a ware costs? Do tattooists have paintings with their designs, or is it a conversation with the tattooist that lets you choose from a selection?

I understand that a lot of this is made to be open for interpretation, but it seems to me that it's an area that's instead altogether avoided. I feel some consistency here would really help us all along with haggle emotes, our shopping with a friend scenarios, and the occasional interaction with immortal animations.

Tattoos: I sort of assume the artist has a stack of sketches to look through. They're probably old and worn, but they're enough to show you what you're getting and that the tattoo artist is actually capable.

Other Wares: I treat it like they have a display of some sort. And you just ask the merchant, or their vnpc kid, the price. There's no reason for price tags.

I basicly asume the same thing as Impska, on Wares and Tattoo's. Maybe the guy has a few Tattoo's etched out on mats that he has displayed. Also many of the room Descriptions tell you how wares are laid out. With pricing I would just asume that we are discussing the price. If I haggle a price, I may Rp that out to.

Thank you for your replies. It was an unnecessary knee-jerk reaction of mine to write the thread, as it was really a situation a wide awake me would've solved rather than freak out over, heh. Thanks again.
