Can a character who isn't a house servant ever be as good at cooking as a house servant? As far as I know they are the only guild or subguild who specializes in cooking. Anyone have any good experiences with cook?

When I tried a house servant.. I could never get good at cooking for some reason.. (I got tired of making travel cakes by the way)
And as a ranger with the cooking and bandaging.. I think I got fairly ok with them.

Travel cakes will never make you a good cook.  That is like getting better at cooking by making toast.  As to subguilds, they only will start your skill a little higher then normal, they have no effect on how good you can eventually get.
