Does the Weekly Update ever make you wonder?

Started by crymerci, December 23, 2003, 12:11:48 AM

What objects got added?  Where are the new NPC's?  How the hell do some people manage to find a bug/typo/idea every single week?

Or do you get a shiver when you read "Updated animal populations in desert (Dyrinis)"?

The reason I'm asking is this:  I read "Race kank updated (Vendyra)" and for some odd reason it made me wonder if kanks are being made a playable race.  Of course they're probably not, but it would be kinda interesting.  For the first 20 minutes, anyway.

I think we might need to change World Discussion to Armchair Zalanthan Anthropology.

Krath would that be awesome.

The yellow kanks says in ankk
     "This girdle is killing me"

The silt-shelled kank looks over at the yellow kank and chuckles.

The blue robed kanklar says in ankk
"Shut up and gimme some honey"
A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic.  Zalanthas is Armageddon.

Stop being shitty to each other.

I wish they would tell me anything about anything that they said..
What about the:
Code and script changes:
Script for templars (Zhaira)
Updated cook scripts (Raesanos)
Create Food updated (Vendyra)
Made in-game boards easier for Storytellers to maintain (Xygax)

Webpages updated:
APM Group created on GDB (Sanvean)
Winrothol webpage updated (Vendyra, submitted by Spawnloser)

Helpfiles updated:
KADIAN_ORDERS (Ashyom)

All I understand is the Helpfiles.. if that :)

And one more question..
Quote from: "Malifaxis"World changes:
New skinning recipes (Sanura)
What exactly does that mean?
Is that new longneck recipes? New ways to skin things? Or new ways to use skin?
l armageddon รจ la mia aggiunta.

Quote from: "sacac"New skinning recipes (Sanura)

What exactly does that mean?

I'd assume that there are now more objects you can recover when you skin an animal.  Probably only applies to a few number of creatures, so you might not even run across the new skinnable items.

I am a bit of a spelling Nazi, excuse the expression, so I can usually find a typo or inconsistency when I'm in an area I'm not used to.  You, as players, can help fix these things too.  Most importantly, this should show you how involved the imms are in Armageddon.  Really, that is what the Weekly Update is for - to show you that they are doing a lot more than you might ever see.

They keep these updates ambiguous to not give away any IC information.  Since the weekly updates started some time ago, I've been a huge fan.  I mean, 26,731 rooms?  Shit.  If you aren't a Highlord, you haven't seen all that Arm has to offer.

They won't tell you what the code changes were, specifically, you can see that ICly.  There was a comment recently about Tuluki guards acting like they were really patrolling a route, instead of erratic movement.  Well, that's something that will be relayed indirectly through the updates.  Again, you might never actually notice it in the game.

In summation, the imms rock with information like this, excepting the ones that don't like me.

I'll field a few of your wonders here sacac.

Quote from: "sacac"Updated cook scripts (Raesanos)

Raesanos made huge changes to the cook script. He made one script be customizable enough so that every clan can use it, and not write their own script. This is big for those of us who don't script very well, and a bug needs only be fixed in one script, instead of multitudes of cook scripts.

If this is the same project, I believe it's shooting for more consistancy in skinning. Overall, this is a big plus for hunters, and also gives us more raw items to include in crafting recepies.

Woo, nice.  Can always use more materials harvested from beasts.  Cheers to the folks working on that project.

Here's one AC would like:

You slice a long skinny penis off of the body of a green-eyed cylini-hued elf.
