Board Posts: Language?

It would be really cool to be able to add language to board posts while writing in the editor.

Rumors could be posted that have more/different details depending on which group it's aimed for - a group of elves talking allundean is going to have a different feel than a group of elves talking sirihish at a bar, for instance. A desert elf walking into the Gaj might not be able to find out everything that is going on without talking to people, as another example, because everyone talks in sirihish there. A dwarf might get a warning that other people wouldn't hear, when a group of dwarves is relaying gossip, etc etc.

Whether or not you can post in a language would require you knowing that language. Even if this was checked on every post, this could be circumvented for events/topics by simply not using language code and says in the post. Seems better to just require the toggle for posters that want it, though.

Problems being addressed: the 'lore' of the game isn't being represented with everyone easily communicating and giving the same info to a dirty elf that they might give to a noblewoman. it also encourages city play if you don't speak sirihish well, as you'll probably need to find out from someone the accuracy of the rumor you're being told. it encourages cross-racial interaction as well, which can be great for roleplay.

Difficulty of addition: ... honestly uncertain. I can't guess with Arm code. It shouldn't be that hard to add, though, in theory as it's just a lot of if...then and displaying code that's already integrated.

some of y'all have cringy as fuck signatures to your forum posts

Unless it's re-coded to add some type of skill check FOR language.  You can already do a rumor, In Allundean or whatever.  Just handwave it that the person reading it asked someone next to them to translate what they heard.
"This is a game that has elves and magick, stop trying to make it realistic, you can't have them both in the same place."

"We have over 100 Unique Logins a week!" Checks who at 8pm EST, finds 20 other players but himself.  "Thanks Unique Logins!"

do you think there's people sitting around just providing free translation?

Rumors are in third person narrative. You walk into a bar and hear someone talking about something. If it is a rumor, a human who understands allundean or mirukkim would definitely talk about it in sirihish. I don't see any problem in it.
About the original suggestion, language skills are still skills and improve by usage like any other skill. If board rumors are in different languages, you should consider the skill gains for everyone. A desert elf would go into a bar and learn perfect sirihish without really interacting with anyone else.
A foreign presence contacts your mind.

You think:
"No! Please leave me be whoever you are."

You sense a foreign presence withdraw from your mind.

Course not, but you can't trust people to just take the fact that it says it's written in a certain language to respect that.

They would have to code the read board command to actually check skills and such to do it and I think that would be a daunting task for simply some privacy of language.

there's no writing, the rumor board reflects things that vnpcs are loudly talking about in taverns for you to overhear
vnpcs could easily speak in a different language

Most rumor boards are the result of information disseminating in different languages as a rumor spreads. For places like eastside and Blackwing would be interesting though, if not abused.

Doesn't seem like an important feature at all but is interesting.
