people are talking on discord about a cool idea

currently:
you way merchant amos to buy fancy.panties.frilly
merchant amos makes a request
staff loads fancy.panties.frilly
you way merchant amos again to exchange
It requires playtimes to sync up which is a huge fucking pain

some idea:
you way merchant amos to buy fancy.panties.frilly
merchant amos gives you the scrab token
merchant amos makes a request for the fancy.panties.frilly and tells staff to link them to the scrab token
staff loads fancy.panties.frilly and links them to the scrab token
you go to npc.token.exhanger and give it your scrab.token and four large for your fancy.panties.frilly

Then you only need to sync playtimes once which is a lot easier.

While actually a cool idea...aren't most things craftable now?

I mean,  still merit...be cool if merchant mike could make the fluffy panties and then either sell them to a specific NPC who will only take the scrab token +X coins or give and come pick up the coins later. Though, making the link...no idea...

Oh that's interesting.

You're talking about an asynchronous sort of buying/selling system. Someone orders X, they assign it to token Y, which they use load/give to a public NPC. Only a person with Token Y can purchase Item X.

Is that right?

I haven't used this option ... Ever.

But are not banks able to store items?

Can't a merchant just put the item into the bank and give the ticket to the buyer?

Or I guess give the buyer a ticket and have staff insert the item into banks holding cell?


I personally don't like the idea of removing interaction from the transaction. But if both sides prefer it that way.

It requires interaction still, but only the more interesting part. Explaining what you want, deciding on a price, and dealing with preexisting conflict so that you can cooperate enough to trade.

Asking if you order is done is an uninteresting chore that detracts from the overall experience. Instead of trying to way a merchant who might not even be online to tell you the order isn't ready yet Amosa Fale can do something interesting with those focus points.
