I've been tip-toeing around this for damn years now.

Can we all agree to call roots and such what the hell they are? Vegitables.
Those thick brown roots are damn potatoes. POTATOES!
the papery skinned bulbs are onions. Ocotillos are ocotillos I guess. (red onions) but whatever.

Potatos are a form of root, I think. The papery skinned bulbs are definitely onions, they have the same descriptive taste as real life onions taste like.

Fundamental differences between roots and tubers makes a potato a tuber and not a root. While tubers are considered part of the overall category of "root crops" - tubers are not roots.

Edit Just moved this from a strangely titled thread to the botanikal discussion here. 

I'm wondering if our  ocotillo is really a cordiciform, rather than a bulb. It has an extensive root system, and it sprouts leafed tendrils from the bulb, rather than the typical monocot blade. However, I've searched for one matching the description and failed. It doesn't help that most plants pictured on the Internet are growing in pots or tended gardens.
It's a puzzle because the description in the help file sounds like a real plant. Are there any botanists out there? Who wrote up the original descriptions?

Anyway, Armageddon ocotilloes clearly are not real-life ocotilloes, because Armatilloes are small and weed-like, whereas real-life ocotilloes are like 6 foot tall bushes.
