Rats

How come I never remember seeing rats?

Will the crim code destroy me if I kill them?
<19:14:06> "Bushranger": Why is it always about sex with animals with you Jihelu?
<19:14:13> "Jihelu": IT's not always /with/ animals

They only went in to the game within the last year or so.

You will not be crim-coded for attacking Rats. I would advise always typing "keyword rat" [I think that's the command] to make sure there's no "rat-faced man" in the room who you might inadvertently attack.

A quick keyword check if you're unsure is always the right idea.

You can double-up the keywords if you think there's even a chance that the rat-faced man might show up:

kill mangy.rat
kill rat.man
kill grey.rat

etc. (depending on which "rat" you want to kill)

Delirium said: Notice to all: do not mess with Lizzie's soap. She will cut you.

Remember that rats have always been around - they've always been a part of life in the city streets. They just are no longer virtual.
Child, child, if you come to this doomed house, what is to save you?

A voice whispers, "Read the tales upon the walls."

One weird side effect of rats is their excreta...

Once they've stopped roaming, they will park themselves in a room and shit repeatedly until there's literally a 'huge pile'.

The other problem is that their droppings have the keyword 'round'.  If you wanted to sit at the round table, you can't "sit at round" without first mistargeting and trying to sit on rat poo.

It would be cool if there was syntax like:

> watch rat
You begin watching a spotted rat.
> kill !
You attack a spotted rat.

i.e., ! always targets the person you're currently watching.  No more mistargets, even if the mangy, rat-faced man decides to wander into the room.

Would add some additional functionality to 'watch'.

or if its too hard to code that into watch, then just make a 'target'  command (even make targ/tar/ta keywords for it) that will lock a player as the target for if you ever: cast, subdue, guard, rescue, kill/kick/combatcommandsingeneral, use 'object' (when an item's in your hand/inventory which you can use on another player), and just generally any command which you can target someone else. This of course means you'd have to remember to clear your target, which could be a command like "target cl".

Seems like a good idea.

As for rats, I actually don't really see them much anymore... Which disappoints me. They need to stop hiding!

I love the rats. I wish there were more of them. I wish they couldn't get past magickal barriers in Allanak, though.
