New quick emotes

This isn't that important. I just think it would be great to have more quick emotes.

like:
point:
point east "you point east" "the guy points east"
point west "You point west" "the guy points west"
point guy "You point at the other guy" "the guy points at the other guy"

leer
glare

any others? My computer's about to die.

Those are called "canned socials" and diku comes with a bunch of them. They were removed by the Armageddon staff when they moved away from H&S and into RPI. You can always put in an alias so "elk" substitutes "emote looks" with a * qualifier. And "point *" becomes a new social for your use. You can custom make any socials you want with aliases in your mud client.

Armageddon still has several socials, which I get very confused with because sometimes I mean to put in the social and I accidentally wind up prefacing the command with the : (aka alias for emote). If you type socials you don't type any characters in front of names so sometimes I accidentally type out emotes with names. It's a bad habit and one that I've been trying to break myself of for years. Socials that I'm aware of and try hard not to use because they are plain and boring:

hug
grin
laugh
chuckle
sigh
smile

Frown doesn't work you get an echo of: What's the matter? or What's wrong? I find those echoes quite funny and it reminds me to try not to rely to heavily on canned socials.

I agree with Lizzie, it is easy enough to do a bunch of these in aliases for yourself for sake of brevity when hunting or in combat.
I am unable to respond to PMs sent on the GDB. If you want to send me something, please send it to my email.

it'd be cool if arma allowed us more than ten aliases per PC but I get that the old codebase is old.

Wait... there's 10?  I thought it was only five?

Ah well you should just kill those PCs. They're not worth the time of plotting creatively against.

It's a very small number, whatever it is. I think it's just old funky code going on. Given that each of our PCs can have dozens of lengthy bio entries attached to them, it surely isn't system memory preventing them from having 20 or 30 aliases, but it's just whacky old code convention.

It's also totally unneccessary to add more, since every mud client for both windows and *nix has the tools for the user to create his own aliases client-side. The original game-side 10 is a throwback to the old telnet client that came with dos and unix.

totally unnecessary? I kind of like how aliases get bound to a PC, then lost when the PC dies, since you don't need them anymore. I think it could have a use, especially for people who play on multiple computers/clients, and can't carry their aliases with them from client to client. Another example is the use of the flash client on the website. So yeah, I can see some use for it, but I agree it should be extremely low priority.
