As part of the continued incremental changes to crafting, crafting tools have received a little love!

Here is the thread to discuss!

  • Change to allow for some optional values on a recipe for a tool type required and quality required.
  • When crafting it will look first in the player's equipment, then inventory then room, for a suitable tool of high enough quality.
  • There is now a chance that hand held tools will degrade depending on the recipe's difficulty and and the character's abilities.
  • Tools that degrade too far will break and need to be replaced.
  • Certain permanent tools in the room will not degrade.

Thank you Nessalin for these continued crafting updates!

The assess command, when used on a tool, will give information about the condition of the tool.  This can be used both to compare two tools and see which is better shape as well as get a sense about how much usage a tool has left.
"The tool shows signs of very heavy damage and hard use, and its functionality appears limited."

The analyze command, when used on a finished product, for those that have the skill to craft it, will give information about if a fire is required to make it as well as what kind of tool, if any, is required.
"You would need a fire to cook that."
"You would need a kiln to make that."

The salvage command has been expanded to work on items that are made of clay (but not ones that are ceramic).
"Unless you have a suitcase and a ticket and a passport,
The cargo that they're carrying is you"
