Mudsex apocalypse?

Apocalyptic predictions if mudsex was banned?
Loss of players?
Boredom?
More bone sword on bone sword action?
You tell me.

?
Who cares.
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

I'd take it to skype like some of you already do.
"When I was a fighting man, the kettle-drums they beat;
The people scattered gold-dust before my horse's feet;
But now I am a great king, the people hound my track
With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back."

I'd be more than a little irked if we -seriously- started moving towards the PG-13 realm that the rules seem to be moving towards.

Hmmmm. You know, before I started playing I thought mudsex was just silly. Actually, I think it helps one character to form bonds with another, more an act of trust than anything else. I've found it to be a great plot device and a way to provide my characters with more depth and motivation. Also, it helps me practice using the various symbols in emoting, more so than armor repair or latrine scooping.

I'd talk about the first time it happened, but likely hasn't yet been quite a year.

EDIT: If it were removed, I would likely eventually get bored and find something else to do with my time, like a non-RP enforced mud.

I agree to it adding depth and getting your character to bond with other characters. Like in real life, you see some things about people you would have never seen about them if you never had sex with them. The same is true with sex in game. Your character will see another character in a completely different light or might realize something about the other character your character may not have otherwise.

If it was banned completely, I would still love and play Armageddon. Even though sometimes it may seem like it I don't play Armageddon just for mudsex. There are so many other things I play it for. I'm sure I'd find it lacking if it was banned though.

We are not moving towards PG-13 by banning rape.

Adhira mentioned (and we politely ask again) not to fear-monger rape becoming a virtual aspect of the game into "OMG PG-13 DISNEYFICATION". We are not going to ban murder, corruption, and betrayal. Get your asses out there and RP some legit plots, involving torture, embezzlement, war, shadow artists, noble vs commoner, commoner vs noble, ganking, raiding, extortion, gambling, drinking, alcoholism, spice-addiction, and so on.

Oh, and we aren't banning mudsex.

Loss of people? Yes.

Other than that? Dunno.

I don't fear a ban on mudsex and never did. I don't think this is a slippery slope at all.

But I would wonder if this change means that there will be even MORE "abuse" RP, just not in the sexual violence category.

Something to think about.

I do think this new rule is going to lead to more complaints, since I'm fairly sure there'll be tons of people rule-lawyering over it.

But eh. Fuck it.

I doubt it.

This is such a universal censorship hardline that people are going to be terrified to even mention the word rape and anything remotely similar to it. You get insta-stored. Which I guess was the end game goal. I would have told some harsh rape jokes with past pc's just to illustrate just how "vulgar" and "repulsive" they were as human beings.

From this day on, it is missionary for the sole purpose of procreation because honestly, I'm afraid of getting banned.

Never once roleplayed a rape. And suddenly, I'm afraid of being banned for rape.

Wow. We've really reached some sort of threshold.

I'm not so sure about that.

But having had to deal with the fallout of my PC being accused of multiple rape(they were lies) I know how trigger-happy some people are in reporting things to staff.

I think there's going to be a ton of people moving in to shout BAN AMOS HE TOUCHED MY BUM real soon. They'll be easier to deal with, since that's retarded, but I doubt the complaint issue has been solved.

I was just musing as to the amount of time spent on sex versus other role play. I never mentioned the rape thread. Though the whole lumping people who may have disagreed with the censorship and theme implications with people who rape and telling them to go find a rapey mud before locking said thread was funny.

Sometimes Arm truly is approaching high fantasy. You are shielded from rape and being accused of rape. You can be discriminated against for all these reasons, but every culture in the game world refuses to discriminate based on gender and sexual preference. I really don't ca re that any of these things aren't prevalent,  but that they sort of magically are absent even from some minority or group always seems to make me blink and then go hit an npc with a bone sword.

I've always gone to the point of being overly careful.

1) I am usually the first one to sort out consent for sex related scenes.
2) I will usually either always ask for consent each new scene that happens. If not, it is because we have become mates and it is assumed (which I will stop doing). The other reason I will not do this is if in the past when requesting consent I have put in the stipulation that the consent is valid until otherwise stated. This covers for a blanketed rule and makes sure that my ass is covered.

Not sure why the other thread was closed, it's pretty obvious people still want to discuss this.

Because it had a whole 14 hours and as you can see, anyone who disagrees with the mindset and this change wants to rape people.

In some ways I'd rather pc on pc mudsex be gone than pc on VNPC rape.

I'd guess it was the general tone of "People who complain about their character being raped/accused of rape are whiners." That's a bit asshat.

I'm convinced this change didn't come because people were complaining about being raped, but because of plotlines involving conflicting IC and OOC accounts and possible consent violations that were a massive headache to figure out. "People complaining about being accused of rape," if you want to put it that way. I prefer to think of it as people not wanting to be dragged in to plotlines about things they would never actually want to roleplay out, especially when their consent for inclusion was never obtained before hand. It'd be like logging in and told your character's had his legs cut off or something.

Yeah, that was a bit snarky.

I can do better than that and should do better than that. My apology.

Can I request that we get the previous thread re-opened since people still want to discuss the topic, and it didn't seem to be open for very long before being closed?

Also, I know you probably didn't mean it this way, but it seems like you are saying anyone who disagrees with this decision just wants to rape people or roleplay raping people and we should find a new game. I apparently am not the only one who felt this way in regards to the comments made by yourself. I find that unsettling and I would like some clarification on that front. Because being openly called a creepy rapist/rapist want-to-be just doesn't seem....right....just because I happen to disagree. (I don't even disagree with the rape subject matter or the lack of said subject matter. I mostly disagree with the universal censorship model.)

Also mudsex is OK. Though one of these days I'd love to see some nobles sponsor some actual mud sex (the height of Zalanthan decadence).
