Put command doesn't automatically remove an item you are wearing

Started by slvrmoontiger, October 30, 2013, 01:31:18 PM

Okay I'm sure you've all seen this before and one point in time or another. Put command if you don't have it in your inventory and you have something with the same keyword that you are wearing it shouldn't automatically remove that item and put it where you command to.

For instance hunting with a female huntress wearing a tembo cuirass of some sort. You just killed a tembo and she picks up the hide. Of course she does the following:

>put tembo pack

Right the hide doesn't have the keyword tembo I don't believe so guess what gets echoed:

The short chick with the huge boobs removes her tembo cuirass
The short chick with the huge boobs puts her tembo cuirass in her backpack.

Ummm rings are one thing, but when accidentally exposing areas of the body one doesn't intend to expose at the current moment that's completely another matter.

Not positive, but I'm fairly certain this is a recent change, added precisely to provide this functionality you'd like removed.  I'll do some checking for some sauce on that.

With appropriate roleplay of course.

If the hide doesn't have the keyword 'tembo', which it doesn't, then your huntress friend with the big boobs would have used something like 'get hide' to pick it up.  And with it being in her first inventory slot now, 'put hide pack' wouldn't remove her cuirass.  Using the same keyword you used to pick something up usually won't result in accidentally removing clothing.

Actually you know I'm not sure what happened. Still there should be warnings like. This will remove an item you are currently wearing if you'd like to do this say yes.  Or some shit like this at the very least.

But then when I'm changing my attire and I'm taking things off and stuffing it in a bag, I have to remove every item individually.  I wouldn't want the code asking me 'are you sure about this?' every time I was trying to quickly get changed.  Sometimes my hands are too full to be handling each bit of equipment and being able to take something off and put it away in one command makes this easier.

True, not sure how this should be handled then.

I end up accidentally taking my pants off all the time in game, but honestly it's worth it for the quick change option that the current put code allows.

Seriously, try making a character that needs to change cloths everyday. It'd be god-awful without put working as it currently does.

Moderated a few posts here.  Don't flame.  If you do, you'll get a temporary ban.

Half of me says flame the put command erry day for putting certain items I'm wearing into the locker/bag/chest/box when I use keyword smorgisboard to put other crap away.

But then I use keywords of worn items to take crap off, so, I kind of lovehate the put command.

I could give a shit about wholesome.

I don't mind the behavior of the put command as it is today, EXCEPT FOR:

> eq
<primary hand>   a sparring club
<on belt>        a not-sparring club

> put club rack
[Removing a not-sparring club first]
You put a not-sparring club on a weapons rack.

If put could be changed to look at objects held in your hands first BEFORE objects in other wear locations, I would be so happy.

What's even more frustrating:

eq

primary hand: an obsidian knife
secondary hand: a knife-edged shortsword

put knife pack

You remove your knife-belt (leaving you with your obsidian dagger and waterskin in your inventory)
You put your knife-belt in your pack.

I like this actually. Put would only function in items in inventory. Stow would work on anything you have equipped.
