Rest and Sit changes

Started by Reiteration, June 10, 2012, 02:46:29 PM

Is it possible to intercept a rest or sit command when it was directed at a table or furniture piece they are already upon? This check could probably be placed prior to the [Standing first] message and could simply say they are already sitting/resting at the target.

Is it possible to modify sit to act like rest whereas using the command by itself without arguments and while upon an object will change your position on said object?

>sit bed
You sit on a bed.

>rest
You rest on a bed.

>sit
[Standing first]
You stand up from a bed.
You sit down.

Uh.. As far as I'm aware, this is already the case.

Try again, pretty sure my clan staff thinks I'm retarded if they saw what my character was doing for the past five minutes.

As far as beds go, some seem  to do it, some don't.  My past experience anyway.

Hmm, I'm starting to think that sitting at tables is entirely different code-wise from sitting on other objects.

If you can rest on it, and you're already sitting at it, this already happens.

Is this to item 1 or 2?

They don't seem to understand what you're meaning, Reiteration.

I'm pretty sure I've come across objects that will let you sit from rest without specifying the object, but I can't be positive.

For those that don't understand about what he's talking about and keep trying to say it's like that, is that you can 'sit couch' then 'rest' and you'll automatically rest on the couch (or whatever), but if you do the opposite and 'rest couch' then 'sit' it won't do that - you stand up and sit on the floor. Though like I mentioned, I think I've found some objects that you can do that to, but most of them you can't.

Whether this is code or object, it's likely not a small thing to make them "Scandinavian friendly"... That's part's a joke, btw.

I think it's visa versa type of thing.

I can't duplicate this, even doing it in the same places you did with the same commands.  Note that if you are asleep and then wake up, you automatically move to "sitting," not "resting," so if you type "sit" after that point, you're already sitting...therefore the game thinks you want to sit on the floor because you've provided no argument.

I wonder about:
"rest bed"
"sit "  <-- note space after sit

Sit + space = you sit on the bed
sit - space = you sit on the bed

"rest bed"  -- you rest on the bed
"sit" -- you sit on the bed
"sit" (again) -- obviously you want to sit somewhere else, let me deposit you on the floor after you stand up

I've encountered some bed/bunk/cot objects where you can sit on them but if you try to rest or sleep on them it dumps you on the floor instead. Should these be bugged?

Keep this up long enough and I promise I'll make you a new rage comic.

Yes. Bug (or typo) them. Staff normally fix this in a few minutes.
