Refer-a-Friend Contest! Fabulous prizes! Through January!

Happy New Year, folks! To get 2012 kicked off right, we are running a Refer-a-Friend contest to recruit new players to the game, through January 31st. The top three friend-getters will win fabulous prizes. Here are the rules:

1. Your friend has to not have previously played Armageddon. Bringing back vets is, of course, appreciated--but for this contest, that doesn't count.
2. Your friend must get through the account process, create a new character, and actually play the game for 2 or more hours in order to count.

To get credit for your friend, you can either:

A. Make sure your friend puts your account name (not your GDB name or your character's name, but your game account name) in the "Where did you hear about us?" spot when creating their account. OR,
B. You can send in a request through the request tool, as a Publicity type request, which tells us what your friend's new game account name is.

But what are the prizes, you may be asking yourself? This list may not be final yet, but the first-place winner will more than likely get to choose between:

* A custom GDB title to display their prowess of recruitment
* A staff-guided, personal tour through a now-unlinked area of game history (areas to be chosen by staff)
* A nifty geegaw from the web store, or other token of our appreciation

The second and third place winners will get something as well.

You may also be asking yourself why--why, Talia, are we doing this? Well, the answer is simple: The friends of players are often our best new players, who stick around the longest, and have the most fun. New players are the lifeblood of this game, and more is better!

Entries are open until the clock ticks over on January 31st. So get those new players in here, and get credit!

I am pleased to congratulate the winner of this contest: Kalai! Kalai brought in 1 friend who played for 2 hours or more.

Unfortunately, no one else managed to hit the minimum criteria of getting their friend to play for 2 hours or more, so we don't have 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Kalai, could you please put in a request directed to the Publicity category and let us know which of the fabulous prizes you would like to claim, so that we can discuss and coordinate with you.
