This is a case of "trickle-down-fat" -- employees/ those with whom the truly fat nobility and GMH adore have sustained enough food to manage to have a little extra to store.

Thyroid disorders can cause weight gain, but in my experience, it never made me morbidly obese. Or obese ... at all.

That's just one example, though I wanna see a buxom aide shouting:
"My boobs are huge because I'm hypothyroid!!"

In fact, many PCs live highly sedentary urban lives and certainly are not struggling with hunger. I'd expect to see more obesity, not less.
