Nosave "Get the piss whipped out of you".

Is there a nosave for getting whipped?

If not, there should be....

I've seen people remove their pack, cloak, shirt, everything-- and then "rest", and still manage to dodge a flogging.

nosave subdue
A dark-shelled scrab pinches at you, but you dodge out of the way.
A dark-shelled scrab brandishes its bone-handled, obsidian scimitar.
A dark-shelled scrab holds its bloodied wicked-edged, bone scimitar.

Truth, one must be subdued.

Agreed. There should be some sort of 'nosave whip'.

I've always had a hard time picturing someone restraining someone else while they're getting whipped.

I was almost 100% positive nosave combat worked.

Subdue him before whipping him?

(I have this fantasy that you guys are in-game with this right now:
The tall, muscular man says, out of character:
   "lol, wat do we do"
The rugged, sergeant-eyed man says, out of character:
"hang on ill ask the gdb"
)
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong.
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.

But still.... Is subduing the only way to make someone take their flogging punishment that they've willingly sat down to take?

Unless the whipper is much more proficient, skillwise, than the whipee, yes.

Use whip (Target)
You lift ~ with all your strength.
A long length of bone doesn't move.

say (cracking ~whip loudly on the ground) Amos, hold that filthy 'breed kanker still, I aint havin' him flinchin' away like a feckin' skinny.

oh and here's a free videogame.

I've had a knocked out target parry my attack. I think the combat code just needs a little revision.

There is absolutely no need to rely on the combat code for this. emote whips ~you

Not if you're going for the permanent loss of hitpoints.
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong.

Or the scars.

Yeah, what 7DV said. I always go for the coded whipping when I'm givin' it or takin' it.

I'm gonna go all Gimfalisette on you guys and lay down some numbers.

Being whipped using only emotes feels a bit like metagaming to me, personally - circumventing code to get around HP loss.

*Or shit, just let my character take his punishment without getting punished -more- for trying to avoid the first punishment by wriggling out of the way, because there's no nosave and my commanding officer didn't happen to have another grunt nearby to subdue.

*Not an actual scenario, but.... Could happen.

Also.
There are some whips designed only for combat - that lack the "use" function. I'd suggest typoing them maybe, if you run across them.
Modern concepts of fair trials and justice are simply nonexistent in Zalanthas. If you are accused, you are guilty until someone important decides you might be useful. It doesn't really matter if you did it or not.

Or the scars.

I had whipping emoted out, then i went to a safe room, and got my scars. it's not hard.
I remember recruiting this Half elf girl. And IMMEDIATELY taking her out on a contract. Right as we go into this gith hole I tell her "Remember your training, and you'll be fine." and she goes "I have no training." Then she died

type "nos"

it will show you can "nosave combat" to not attack back.

edit: yeah found the "nos" command when i meant to type "nod" LOL.

Nosave combat only keeps you from attacking back if you're attacked by someone using the "kill" command.

You'll still dodge, parry, block, etc., etc., etc.

And you'll still dodge "use whip" attempts.
