At what age have you started playing Armageddon?

I've been on and off Armageddon over the years, but in total I've been playing since I was 18 years old (will be 26 in two months), that's almost 8 years now.... Wow..... what about you?

BTW, I remember the days with no karma, no delay, you typed 'backstab' and BOOM... or no delay for magick... cast 'something' and seven jakhals appear of nowhere ... I remember Thrain roaming the 'rinth, looking for PC dwarves :-)

Hhmmm, I cannot remember:) take 3 months after armageddon opened to now, subtract that time from my age, I'm 32, so, that would be, what, 12-13 years, so, 19 or 20. Grin, What I really think is funny though is that sometimes people ask me what my char's name was, like I'm going to remember, I've had chars on literally hundreds of muds since then.

I was 13 when I started, I remember it well: I was suspended from school and decided to find a mud where I could really screw with people.  Perma-death? You can actually PICK locks and steal stuff from people's HOUSES? And STEAL from them? It sounded like heaven to this sadistic 7th grader.

Then I grew, after many elven burglars and assassins/pickpockets I had my first merchant, who i thought was lame.  Off the Shield Wall he went.

After a long stay away from Arm, I came back after I realised I liked roleplay and have been here since.  I am now 18.

I was...18, 19? and - Jerusalem. Yes. My brother made me play, but I was into UO at that time. So I played this twink-ass merchant for a while, then he died, or I lost my password, or something happened. Anyway, I went back to UO. For some reason, and when I look in hindsight now, I cannot figure out why, but for some reason I loved that game...until I lost my castle on the Pacific Shard and the ....Uh....the PK shard, whatever that one was called.

Then I started going to play D&D, paper and pen shit, at the gaming shop, and the group I played with was, 1: Confused about what I was doing there in the first place, and 2: Really annoying, nerdy and childish.

So I hit the Net in search of some game to download to relieve my boredom , and I thought about Arm again and made an account. My first really serious character, this one, and my fortune landed me with one of the best roleplayers one could have learned from, a certian old mul. Who better to learn from than him, when you are a habitually twinkish player and are still trying to grasp the concepts of roleplay in general?

I was 21 then. I am 24 now.

That old mul might not have been the flashiest of players, but Krath, I saw him beat the twink out of more then one player.  I swear that at least half the MUD was saved from being twinks by him.  Good memories.

I started when I was 16 or so, off and on a while. I am now almost 19. In college, I thought I would have -so- much more time to play than I actually do. A wireless internet connection with a laptop sounds ideal for an avid armer, in reality, you don't get wireless all over campus, and only a light signal in my room, but the LAN cable reaches my bed, so that works. I hope I can get more into it after a little bit. Some good rp going on these days. I just hope we can get another HRPT soon, those are always a blast.

Boom! I started 5 or 6 years ago, and at the time was 13ish. I then introduced a few of my friends to Arm and we all played it and exchanged stories during roudy (and often physically violent, hehe) Alternity sessions.  Nerdy? Hell yeah. Fun? Hell yeah. And hey, I was young.  Now they've mostly gone off to school or moved away and I think I'm the last remaining player of our little group, but hell, Armageddon lets me wallow in any creative whim my mind cooks up, and that's something that I can never let go of. Diablo 2? I played it a week, burnt out. Warcraft 2? Couple months, burnt out. Half-life? Almost a year, then I burnt out. Max Payne? Just until I beat it, then I burnt out.
Armageddon? Five years at least, 35 characters, 35 different perspectives, multiple clans, permanent damage to the game world, permanent additions to the game world, more like-minded people then I've ever met anywhere else, more strange and...accentric people then I've ever met and would never want to know my address anywhere else, more withdrawl then I've ever felt with any other game, more involving then almost anything I can think of, more calming and stress-relieving then those tiny chinese balls (YOU know the ones), but it can make you race faster then you'd ever think text could. It's free. It's always changing. It's artistic and the best way I've found to improve your vocabulary and your actual ability to write. It's fun, and it's the BEST GAME EVER.

I started playing about nine years ago (before gear in your packs stayed in your packs on logout and ended up in your inventory when you logged in).  Maybe that was ten years ago?  I was 'round about 27.  I'm 36 now, so that's nine years, I reckon'.

I would also like to add that I'm really REALLY glad I didn't know about Armageddon or mudding in general while I was in college.  Whew!
