Call for a brother!

Started by Toofie, January 28, 2010, 08:55:08 PM

Call for a dwarven brother, no huge requirements except a piece of the background, and having to put up with me every now and then. PM for details.

Noone? Really..?

These things usually take longer than 10 hours.

Having played with Toofie in the past, you'd be a fool if you didn't jump on this people.

Has anyone ever posted in response to a "family wanted" role something to the effect of "This player sucks, stay far away?"

Of course not. Silly question.

Nah!  Nothing personal!  I don't know who plays what on the GDB.  I keep it all very OOC.  (Plus I can't remember who I see on clan boards, so that helps.)

I'd do it, man. But I'm like'n my current character too much.

Don't sweat it, man. I did a family call once and it didn't really work out. Sometimes the people that would do it are already tied up in roles!

Yup, just keep your thread bumped occasionally and be patient.  Somebody will take it up when they're looking for a concept.

Also, try not to hinge your concepts on these role-calls. That's a bad idea.

Agreed.  When your family member dies before their time, it can throw a wrench in things.  Believe me, I've tried it.

I dunno... I had a wonderful experience with this 'exact' thing happening. I mean awesome.

On topic:
<3 you, Toofie, and you're kickass, but I'm not fond of playing a dude and am also in the middle of a role.

Except me. I remember every death. And I am coming for you bastards.

This reminds me of a great story.

One time, I had a city-elf in the Byn.  Being a city-elf (and me being a n00b), he got into a lot of trouble and ended up getting stationed at the fort, for his own good.  I gutted it out for a good long while until eventually there was a contract heading up north, and I joined in with the rest of the gang.

Now, this was back in the day when groups of 5-6 gith would load all together on the North Road.  I believe we made it three rooms out of the fort when we ran into one of these gith uberbands.  I seem to recall dying nearly instantly.

Feeling sorry for me (I guess) for confining me to the fort for several weeks and then promptly getting me killed, the player of the sergeant in charge PM'ed me out of the blue and offered to let me play his brother.  I accepted, and I even rolled awesome stats at chargen (everything over egood), so I was stoked!

So I get into the game and decide to join the Merchant House that my new brother (the Byn Sarge) used to be a Lieutenant in.  Well, one of the first things they need to do is ride from Allanak to Tuluk, so they hire the Byn for an escort, of course.  Now, the Sergeant of the Merchant House I'd joined was a former Byn Sarge himself, and one of the most fearsome warriors in the game at the time, so we figured we'd be set, even if we ran into those gith again.

Of course, we do.  And those gith put a monkeystomping on us AGAIN.  I watched in horror as my brother fumbled a disarm reverse while tanking and got pretty much instantly cut down.  For some reason, the gith all turned on my n00b character and I was forced to flee with just a few hp left.  Desperate to stay alive, I ran down the road back to 'nak.  Of course, this was before you could put your movement speed in your prompt (or before I'd figured out how to do it), and I actually ran the whole way.

Well, not the whole way, because I ran out of juice.  About halfway.  Now, there used to be an old abandoned fort on the road, so I stopped in it and went to sleep (like a n00b) to recover my stamina and wait for my GMH Sarge to come get me.  Imagine my surprise when I awoke to some random dwarf chopping my fucking head off.

Epic family fail.
