Fighting styles

I was playing another mud where you could choose how you fought example parry30% attack30% and something else, what do you think of implementing something like this on arm?.

Hmm, that could be a good thing or a bad. I think in an off way you already can play like that on arm, It just depends what you work on. If you dont use a shield or a parrying dagger you arent gonna parry alot. Really I think that it would just get people into alot more trouble. The way it works now is pretty simple and lets anyone work on what they want to. For a noob its allready hard and having to learn what percent parry to use with what shield and stuff could be crappy. However that bieng said there are times when retreating and holding off the baddguy is your goal. Perhaps a command like, defensive would be neat. Effectively stopping your attacks alltogether but giving yourself a bonus to parry/dodge?
