When you realize that you have the layout of one of the city-states memorized.

When you realize you have the layout of every starting location memorized.

And when have zero problem going from tuluk to allanak, with zero visibility, hittng all the resting spots along the way. Never stepping foot on a road.
A staff member sends you:

You send to staff:
"Welcome to Armageddon."

I started playing Arm when I became bed ridden after ACL surgery.

I am still recovering, but I can go outside and such, can't run or anything yet. But I have put on a few pounds since the surgery, and being on Arm non-stop isn't helping.

So today I built a desk that I attached to my bike. My bike is on a trainer so I can use it as a stationary.  I play arm while cycling now.

It is that bad.

Dude, I'd be so bad if I did that. The moment scary shit popped up IG, I'd start cycling like a mofo.

On my HTC I downloaded an app from the market called AndroMud.

Looks almost exactly like GMud, and after a day of entering new 'words' like ldesc and my account name it works flawlessly... only issue is that I can't see the scrolling text while im inputing a new command.

When you miss your two favourite TV shows that you watch EVERY week, twice in a row, because Armageddon required your presence ingame at that particular time.

When you look at someone's cool cane and you ask to see it.  You analyze it and find out that you can make that item in real life.

My addiction to Arm began with the realisation of permadeath.
I used to play another  fantasy-MUD. It was okay, but there was a big problem. A clique of players essentially ran the game, had total dominance, and were total dooshbags. You couldn't get rid of them, the staff were seemingly unwilling  to do anything, and it ruined the whole thing for me.
Disheartened I went looking for another MUD.
*cue heavenly motherfucking lights beaming down*
I found Armageddon. At first I had to warm to it, it was rough to get into it, but I just went for it and kept going.
Eventually, a moderately successful character of mine made an enemy. We competed with eachother for some time, both being quite adversarial to eachother. I began to loathe him.
Then, I won our struggle, and he was slain. I then realised Permadeath meant my victory was forever, no respawning, no level loss then come back in five minutes. He was dead, buried, toasted and finished.
I knew then Armageddon would never be the game allowed to controlled by a handful of players forever. Sure, some have power, often for a while. But -everyone- dies in the end, somewhere, somehow.
I was addicted to Arm when I realised it was like no other MUD, that Permadeath rocked, and I crushed my foe and didn't have to worry about him ever again.
Amen.
The Devil doesn't dawdle.

I realized I used to be HOPELESSLY addicted when I looked at my account notes and realized my first few characters totaled to 7 days played over a 26 day period.

May seem insignificant, but that's just over 1/4 of that entire period.  I slept 1/4 of that period too (6 hrs a night, give or take).

I don't know how I did it.

So.

... when your time played completely baffles you.

Was hooked with the whole permadeath. Now I can play a killer and actually kill a pc without them coming back with a ton of friends.

Now I got to work on keepin my charries alive to do that!!

Sweet chaos let it unfold upon the land.
Guided forever by my adoring loving hand.
It is I the nightmare that sleeps but shall wake.

How about when a little portion of the world exists because you had a hand (IG) in creating it?

I know the feeling well. I had a place like this and after a few months away because I was deployed, I came back and it had been taken over by other (hostile) people. Had I been there to stop it... blah.

The Devil doesn't dawdle.

You play Arm before and after a 12 hour shift at work.

You try and explain it to your partner but they're just sat there like 0.o cause they don't play it.. But you still tell them anyways.

My best friend actually knows enough about arm to understand what I'm talking about.. Cause I lived with her for 6 months >.> lol
A staff member sends:
"You can quit ooc - or if you want I can kill <character name>, that'd definitely reset it."

Get her playing then.  :)
