Tent watch

I feel it would be neat if you could get a notification as to what enters the room outside a tent, without actually using watch, or look out, eliminating of course successful sneaks into the room, or magically obscured peoples.  The reason for which being wildlife entering that you would normally detect, which you might want to -scatter- from, instead of taking a chill to mudsex for three IG days, and the occasional mount thief, that waltzes in and out without a sound or word, only leaving you to wonder some hours later why you never had an indication the wiser that someone was waltzing off with your loud ass bleating kank.  Comments?

Err... yes, please. Simply for this reason. Why wouldn't you be able to notice your mount is being led off. Most mounts aren't small and would probably make some noise moving... and while someone they didn't know was coming up to them and trying to lead them off.

Might be better to expand "listen" than to use watch here.

I agree.  Say someone walks up from BEHIND your tent instead of the side with the door.
Also, I would like to be able to pitch a tent facung a certain direction and being able to see one room in that direction from inside the tent.

Add new functionality to tents:

Code a "flaps up" option, so you can roll the sides of the tent up.

Upside:  the tent becomes a "spy on other rooms" room (like the peaks of several dunes, if you've noticed).  So you'd see:
Outside the tent:  a silver-shelled inix stretches its neck.
Outside the tent:  the tall, skinny elf has arrived from the east.
Outside the tent:  the tall, skinny elf eyes a silver-shelled inix morbidly.

Downside:  the tent is less effective; i.e. your stamina/health/stun/etc. don't regenerate as quickly.  You could make it a "shaded area" room and impose the same weather pattern inside as outside.  So you wouldn't roll the flaps up in a blinding storm, but on a clear day or a slight storm it wouldn't be so bad.

When you entered the room with the tent, you'd see "A sandy-brown tent is pitched here, with its flaps rolled up."

I dig the above, but if that were too much I'd be cool with something like, a ruffling of the fabric of the tent, or something.

I disagree.  As a big user of tents on several PCs, I have always found the lack of knowledge of what is going on around you while travelling alone and resting in a tent to be quite realistic.

This problem can easily be averted by travelling with company you trust.  Har har.  I know.  But after you kill the first four people who decide to assassinate you for your tent, and find that one person too stupid to try, you can not only have a realistic watch/rest situation, but also have conversations (gasp) while on the road.
Yes. Read the thread if you want, or skip to page 7 and be dismissive.
