Shame (the opposite of bragging)

I've fallen into the same (very deep) hole a couple of times due to accident or another person's intent.  Each character was not very hardy.  Each time they lived.

I did it on purpose (well, I went that way on purpose, expecting I /probably/ wouldn't make it. I didn't /fall/ on purpose).  Character was pretty BA.  I died.

I only, just today, figured out how to gamble with that damn woman in the Tembo's Tooth.

I still don't understand it.

Masks are the Armageddon equivalent of Ed Hardy shirts.

I've only been through the new Tuluki pre-shopping area once. Upon reviewing a log today, I realized that the second room has two vendors - and I totally missed the second one with armor and weapons. And the room desc clearly points this out. I had thought, "Screw this, there's no weapons or armor? That's what I'm saving my sids for. SKIP!"

Wait, what?

When you point Tuluk, you get taken to a shop to buy some starting equipment as an alternative to starting in the "newbie gear". I believe when staff announced it, they said they will work on one for Allanak next.

I had a character who wanted to be a 'rinth superhero. Even went out of his way to get a matching cape, shield, mask, and weapon. Funnier part was that staff actually put a very positive account note on that, mainly for the weird solo RP. I guess I was so in character as a dwarf that I didn't realize how silly the idea was (which ironically made it good roleplay).

Clans can give stat bonuses and penalties, too. The Byn drop in wisdom is particularly notorious.

Could he jump small midden heaps in a single bound? Was he faster than a speeding erdlu? Was he the Man of Chitin?

Vennant doesn't appear to age because he serves drinks at the speed of light. Now you know why there's no delay on the buy code in the Gaj.

I wish I could say what it was. I'll just say now, if I'd kept my mouth shut, I'd be alive.

So, even though this thread was totally dead:

I had a fail sarge briefly.

This Byn sergeant:
0. Called Mallor Tor "fucking stupid" to his face on a contract while as a Runner.
1. Accidentally got his former sergeant (and lover) killed and was promoted to fill her position. (By giving her his knot of spice to carry into Allanak, do be do)
2. Accidentally got his entire unit killed by walking them into an ambush. He survived without a scratch.
3. Tried to commit suicide by jumping off the Wall, failed.
4. Deserted the Byn for a week. He spent the entire week locked in a merchant's apartment, begging them to kill him.
5. Tried to drink what appeared to be cleaning fluid. It was wine.
6. Drank ALL THE WINE.
7. Got out. Pretended he'd never tried to desert the Byn. Recruited new Runners and Troopers.
8. Got them all killed. Again. He survived without a scratch.
9. Got rich. (Never had to pay anybody for successful contracts, because he only ever survived them?)
10. Was one day hired to escort a templar to the pit by Luirs. Did so. Long story short, the templar ended up flying off the wall and dying to gith. Sergeant attempted to leave, making all the (new!) runners swear it never happened. On the way bad, a sandstorm kicked up. Everybody fell off the Wall. Sergeant caught himself, climbed down, gathered up his mounts and runners and left. Hunters rescued a beetle or two for him. Nobody died (but the templar.) Everybody got paid (ahead of time.) Everybody else found out, though, and there was drama.
11. Became depressed and morbid. Left Byn. (Partially for OOC reasons, as I was still in school then.) Moped in the bar. New runners came in and called him "brutal" and "effective" - which was hilarious, because he was incompetent and bumbling.
11.5. Didn't bow to a templar after being asked to and was beaten to within an inch of his life.
12. Eventually joined Kadius.
13. Stored.
A dark-shelled scrab pinches at you, but you dodge out of the way.
A dark-shelled scrab brandishes its bone-handled, obsidian scimitar.
A dark-shelled scrab holds its bloodied wicked-edged, bone scimitar.

1-11 = great brag.
12-12 = great shame.

I was Lt. Raul's supposed first ever casualty on his rides.

I remember because just the day before he was talking about how he'de never lost a runner on a ride. Next day,n boom, dead runner. i felt so bad...

Edit: I'm reply 666! This was aparently evil.
I remember recruiting this Half elf girl. And IMMEDIATELY taking her out on a contract. Right as we go into this gith hole I tell her "Remember your training, and you'll be fine." and she goes "I have no training." Then she died

This was from before the rpt.

at The big rpt of catastrophy i was playing a cavalier.... And I missed it due to rl.... i hated myself.

I did go to allanaks though as an Oash Elite. I was the first one to tell the templar " yeah, we need to go back, Lord Templar..."

LOL

We want to fight five gith. Don't worry, Lady Templar - this is going to be beautiful.

Yeah, first PC casualty, I think. It was a tie between you... AND THE MUL ARGH! (<--- is one of Zoltan's shames. Kids, don't ride into a sandstorm without a ranger you can trust. It doesn't matter how big your nutsack is, or how bored you think your runners are. Just say no.) The best is when Niema fell down that chasm... what a fucked up play session. Raul was preparing to drop in there himself, because falling off of god damned cliffs is just something he did during his acts of heroism. Luckily she talked him out of it.  :D

ICly, your character was the first casualty, too. In Raul's background, he had actually never led Bynners in battle before being transferred back to Allanak and the Dusky Gortoks (ie, when I first started playing him). When he was first made a sergeant, he was put "in charge" of keeping the shelves stocked and ordered in the northern compound. One of the many reasons he always had such a large chip on his shoulder about seeking glory (also why he found organizing the Byn storeroom and his officers' storage soothing).

This has been a Raulgasm. Consider yourselves lucky: Valeria has to put up with them all the time.

My current shame is that I have a character right now who's someone I've always wanted to play, but Skyrim came in and took all my free time. I finally updated my bios to make myself feel a little less guilty.  :-\ Fortunately, Skyrim's icy grip is thawing...

My shame: Not killing this Runner. On the other hand, I try not to kill other PCs without a really good reason to, a philosophy given wings by the series of events this character experienced following the first mistake.

The young daughter has been filled.

Once upon a time, a PC of mine poisoned a fruit.

Then gave the fruit to someone. (aka Snow White style)

Then watched that woman suffering the poison echo for 2 fucking irl hours, while rping nursing her and comforting her on my PC's lap. (yeah she did not suspect me)

After 2 irl hours, her health was at good.

I remember going mental, and decided the good old way is the best. I didn't have another 2 IRL hours to wait and watch if her health might go into poor.

So I knived her to death.

To this day, her endurance stat put me to shame.
