I killed another fellow because I forgot how you 'disengage'. I felt SO stupid that I quickly ticketed a request with the log of the event that a resurrection was required and I am willing to accept any punishment - forced retirement, removal of karma, whatever - and got responded with 'no'.. I then messaged the player of the character I killed, mentioning it was my stupidity and he should have pressed for resurrection. He was fine with it, his character disappeared and had no hard feelings, and it made me feel even worse.

Still, even today, whenever I remember my idiocy: "Stop... no no stand... no what? Oh 'dis*BEEP*en'.. 'But you're not fighting anyone.'" I shudder. I wasted someone else's well thought-out character just because I have the memory of a large watermelon.

I've been there.

Accidentally killed a guy I was picking on in a similar way. Even wished up, and sent a rez request in for the guy, because my guy didn't want to kill him. Just rough him up.
I remember recruiting this Half elf girl. And IMMEDIATELY taking her out on a contract. Right as we go into this gith hole I tell her "Remember your training, and you'll be fine." and she goes "I have no training." Then she died

I once saw someone accidentally get killed and five minutes later they were rezzed. How interesting.

Depends on the staff I guess. We were given a flat no "people kill people on accident in real life" explanation.

It lead to me being exiled, which was a lot of fun.

They must have been playing favourites.
"It doesn't matter what country someone's from, or what they look like, or the color of their skin. It doesn't matter what they smell like, or that they spell words slightly differently, some would say more correctly." - Jemaine Clement. FOTC.

something something case-by-case basis

My guess is if you kill someone due to user error it's a different thing than a code glitch. But that's just a guess.
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

Lol user errors.

I've seen players who were rezzed when they obviously didn't deserve it due to 'user errors' and I've seen players who did deserve to be rezzed, due to genuine user errors, who were then denied it.

I lol'd in IRL when the same character the Staff rezzed died 2-3 IRL days later.

Karma. Suck it.

When Atonement used to be up, occasionally I would enter says and emotes in the wrong window.

The dirty grebber so and so nods, sliding his shoulder out of his rifle's strap as he settles down at the communications console.

I tripped and Fale down my stairs. Drink milk and you'll grow Uaptal. I know this guy from the state of Tenneshi. This house will go up Borsail tomorrow. I gave my book to him Nenyuk it back again. I hired this guy golfing to Kadius around for a while.

My shame: I really liked atonement before they left the moon. Though that might be just because of the server migration we were experiencing.

I remember this! I think I was the one that exiled you. Good fun. :)

Maybe for the two of you. I'm still very bitter about it all, to be honest  :-\

(But I also remember that long PM you sent me shortly after, Irulan, and I thank you for it, it really helped me move on afterward! :) )

I wish things had worked out differently, I loved that PC you were playing, Malken.

Yes, yes you were. One of my favorite plots, hands down :)

Once had to log out in the middle of a violent 'meeting'.

I felt guilty, as if I was trying to avoid character death by logging out.

Thankfully, I found out that I wasn't the target of the 'meeting' so my presence was, for the most part, unimportant >.>

I was taught to play the game by a Mul, with my completely trustworthy red storm city elf assassin/mercenary. I never considered stealing even once and was without fail genuinely nice to everyone.... It must have been hard dragging my linkdead arse about that one time I assumed you could quit in the desert. Thanks whoever taught me, you improved my RP by a lot. And help me get into it. Shorty the Mul <3

I had a very strong character - political strength that is - and I was being dragged into an imm-sponsored plot. Then what did I do?

There was a very very deep ravine (still may be IC) and I decided to look. I didn't realize the next room was a fall. Like a newbie bynner with shit stains on the boots, I fell.

I can feel how pissed the imms were, if it was me, I would be pissed.

Sorry...
Q  : Where do you piss?
Yam: On elves.
Q  : And if the area, lacks elves at the given time?
Yam: Scan.

I remember the HRPT when Tuluk liberated Luirs from Allanak, and the multiple rez's for magickers with Isahn (errr and Isahn maybe?).  Those and the one other time I have seen a rez have been due to the code not working as it was intended, not due to user error.

My shame is that it took me 15+ years of playing to start sending in character reports.
Evolution ends when stupidity is no longer fatal."

After blowing up the Tor Academy (it was more like burning it down, it was still standing afterwards, just all charred out), me the leader of the operation was captured and held prisoner and tortured (had my eye poked out, losing all depth perception, so his life as an archer was finished).   Somehow my crim flag wore off and I was released.  When a staffer saw, he decided that I'd been released accidentally and re-crim flagged me.  After running to the Bazaar, buying clothing and buying a kank off some guy he met, he died trying to ride out of the gates.  After his martyrdom, the dwarf who was second in command, changed the fate of the Bloodriders forever.  Making them into a merchant house, instead of a raider group.  This taught me an important lesson: not to trust a dwarf unless they were more dedicated than I was. RIP The Bloodrider Raiders :-(

I recently was making an easy one room climb in a place unprotected by guards, when I slipped and fell on my neck, KOing myself. I was like "Krath Damn this would be a shitty way to die". But I was fine and all my gear was intact when I awoke some time later. Then I immediately wayed a friend of mine to say the situation I was just in, neclecting to see I was on 10 stun. KOing myself a second time in the same spot.  :-\

This is amazing. You are amazing.
And I vanish into the dark
And rise above my station

I spent ages figuring out the incantations for the starting spells on my first magicker by trial and error, not realizing they are included in your character approval email.

For the first two years I played, I always thought Toks were a particular vicious species. I just never seemed to find them (even though I heard plenty of stories of people who found others killed by Toks). I was SO curious what these Toks looked like? (in my mind they were some sort of beetles).

Suddenly, I realized... it was slang for... yeah...

Sometimes, severity is the price we pay for greatness

Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.
