Where to play.

Started by Ravenfeather, July 13, 2008, 08:14:10 AM

Hey!

I am one of the unlucky few who can only play ARM in the very 'unpeak' hours where there are little players.

Beacause of this I have been unable to stick to a PC and I eventaully give up only to come back with zeal and want to join you all once more.

I have seen some great RP'ers here :)

I am GMT +10 and it just sucks when it comes to having people IC to RP with.  My playing times are between 6 pm to 10 pm monday to friday, and with joy I can log in on the weekends to catch the busy times.

My question therefore is - to increase my chances of having people to RP with - where should I choose to start? Allanak or Tulluk.

I would love to have the luxary of choosing based on what what I would like for my PC - but as the last two PC's have proved, its just not always entirely practicle.

In addition to this, a good idea for me will not just be to choose the busiy city - but also stick to the busy clans.

Please help! ;D

I also play during this time period, and have noticed, over the course of the last year of playing (being in the new timezone), that there is no where imparticular that has more or less players. Out of the 8 or so that are besides myself at this time period I've noticed a handful in Allanak, and a handful in Tuluk, usually at the likely places. But even these tend to be idlers or pretty intent on doing whatever they need to accomplish that day. There have been organized efforts in the past for off-peak players to gather, off-peak RPTs by said players, and off-peak clan recruitment... most of these efforts are started by Australians/New Zealanders and tend to be short-lived (usually the average lifespan of the most active players in said groupings).

If your ambitious you can try to revive any of the above concepts.

I have the whole world of ARM to learn, I am despite my too and fro'ing back and forth quite new :P so it might be a bit beyond me right now, however, I would be very interested in attending when I could.

If your willing I am - PM me?

Well I dont know of any currently scheduled off-peak RPTs, and am not currently influential enough in my character to arrange anything.

But something may come around eventually.

Allanak is the way to go.

At the moment, it is likely to be the most crowded place in the world. There must have been a death spree in other parts of the world lately.
Don't piss me off. I'm running out of places to hide the bodies.

Allanak is generally more populated than Tuluk.

However, if you're looking for one or two people to play with regularly, why not post on the announcements forum asking if anyone in your timezone has a sibling role you can play? Or create a sibling role for a timezone buddy yourself? Or even better, recruit your friends who live near you to play ARM too.

I'm gonna go all Gimfalisette on you guys and lay down some numbers.

Allanak, in my opinion, is a better place to start off - If you just want to be with the crowd.

Usually on off-peak times, there is usually 10-15 players. Atleast 3/4's of that is in 'Nak.

If by weird tribal men you mean Christians then yes.

My own mother.

I also vote for Allanak.

I'm Tuluk's #1 fan and right now I must say that it is quite empty at peak time and a bit slow, so I can only imagine during non-peak..

(This is just based on my opinion, I don't want to start a Tuluk vs Allanak war)
"When I was a fighting man, the kettle-drums they beat;
The people scattered gold-dust before my horse's feet;
But now I am a great king, the people hound my track
With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back."

Allanak generally has more active player-characters than any other part of the game world. If you can only play off-peak, yes, it's probably your best bet for finding someone.

Why not play a mobile role, like a travelling merchant, a ranger, a tribal or a self-employed mercenary for hire?

That way, if one place is empty, you can move somewhere else. :)

I often play offpeak even though I live in the PST timezone.

I generally make friends (or enemies) with a few character who seem to play offpeak as quickly as possible. That ensures a sort of playing group I can turn to for interaction.

Seconded! This is a fine idea. These roles are often suitable for keeping yourself busy when you can't find PCs, too, because you can always hunt/trade/explore/whatever–options that aren't always open to city-bound characters.

I play offpeak, being a Sydney boy (oi, oi, oi), and there's a few in my clan around that time too. I always try to give them good fun during that time as well.

I absolutely agree with this. I am off-peaker myself and my characters tend to last for a while - if you are bound to one place, it might happen that people around you disappear over the time and you are left all alone. Nothing wrong with being a loner, of course, but having someone to interact with -is- a little better. :D

Off peak player here myself. I guess we should start a chain gang or somthing to keep us all together

Heh!

I would so rather a small clan instead of the five or six of us running around the whole known world looking for each other, or having 'independant' type roles where they just run off and spam forage or what not.   :o

I am new, but a clan would be great - if someone else is willing, able and in the know - maybe staff can give some assistance or advice?

Look for me in-game and I'll interact with you all!

I tend to play either male or female characters located in the north, south, or central areas. Usually tanned, and of either a combative or crafting nature.

I find the reasons for Allanak being more crowded is:
undertuluk is not alternative for labyrinth.
allanak's city plan is better.
you can circle outside city easily. (coded factor)
byn is more active at south
easy access to luirs & red storm
magick allowed
more blood

tuluk has it's advantages and beuties too, but they are not strong factors to prompt the majority of playerbase shifting towards there..

I'm also offpeak, 4:30pm unto 10:00pm GMT, in other words, everyone is logging in as I'm leaving...ergo they all try to make me stay online longer than I can (makes me feel lots of guilt!).

I've always seen more players in Nak, but it -is- fairly dead during my peak.  Seems like plenty of people say they're around though, so you'll be fine! :)
Previous of note: Kaevya the blind Tor Scorpion, Kaloraynai 'Raynai' the beetle Ruk, Korenyire of SLK, Koal 'Kick' the hooved Whiran, Kocadici/Dici/Glimmer, Koefaxine the giant Oashi 'Aide', Kosmia 'Grit' the rinthi
Current: Like I'd tell you.

Also, Tuluk is basically a solo hunter's paradise.  I'd be willing to bet that the majority of PCs created there are out hunting by themselves rather than chilling in the Sanctuary.
