Overlapping skill classes?

i'm curious to know but if you make a major guild and a sub guild with an overlapping skill - do you get a higher skill cap for that skill? what happens with two overlapping skills?

I believe staff has stated in the past that you only get a starting boost.
A gaunt, yellow-skinned gith shrieks in fear, and hauls ass.

You get the best of the two caps and also the best of the two starting skill levels.
