Strip Command

Started by My 2 sids, November 27, 2007, 08:48:54 AM

I think it'd be nice to have one command to allow a character to remove everything a character is wearing.   Go ahead, make your mudsex cat calls...

Really though, this would be good for those who need to change garb quickly or guard types who may not normally change clothing _because_ it takes so long to do it OOCly.

Not sure about the "strip" command, but we need *something* to make changing clothes more viable.  It's particularly a pain for warriorly-types who need to wear a dozen pieces of armor to work every day, but, realistically, might want something a bit more comfortable for socializing in.

I'd love to see someone (hehe) hold up the Gaj with a crossbow and terrorize all the off-duty buff warriors who are lounging around in sandcloth.
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong.
The heart is bold that looks on gold;

>strip in bag -glass
You remove a chitin breastplate and stow it in your bag.
You remove a chitin helmet and stow it in your bag.
You remove a black leather collar and stow it in your bag.
You remove a yellow songbird and stow it in your bag.
You remove a pair of black sandcloth pants and stow it in your bag.
You remove a pair of black boots and stow it in your bag.
You do not remove a glass eyeball.
You remove a chitin groinplate and stow it in your bag.

>dress
You cannot wear a bag.
There is nothing else to dress in.

>get pack
You pick up a pack.

>dress
You strap a pack across your back.
You cannot wear a bag.
There is nothing else to dress in.

>sigh
You sigh.

>rem pack
You remove a pack.

>dress from pack
You don a grey robe from your pack.
You don a grey fez from your pack.
You don a pair of grey shoes from your pack.
You don a glittering necklace from your pack.
You don a red earring from your pack.
You don a red earring from your pack.
You cannot wear a kalan fruit in your pack.
You cannot wear a scroll of fireball in your pack.

Absolutely.
A bag chirps feebly.

Perfect!   Thanks to you both for helping explain!!

If this is coded, we can even go Beowulf on naked critters!
some of my posts are serious stuff

Maybe you could have it echo to the room differently for brief or long syntax.

Long you'd get all the spam as demonstrated in the previous post but with brief mode on you'd get something like :

Brief:

>strip in bag

"the tall, bronze-skinned man strips out of his clothes, placing them into a bag"

>dress from bag

"the tall, bronze-skinned man dresses from a bag"

You could then flesh it out with emotes:

>strip in bag (quickly shrugging out of his robe)

"Quickly shrugging out of his robe the tall bronze skinned man strips out of his clothes, placing hem into a bag"

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Is there a problem with just using aliases to do this? I mean, that's what I do.

removearmor
get bag stand
put cloak bag
put shield bag
put sword bag
put bracer bag
put cuirass bag

weararmor
get bag stand
get cloak bag
wear cloak
get shield bag
wear shield
get sword bag
wield sword
sheath sword back
get bracer bag
wear bracer
get cuirass bag
wear cuirass

Sure, it's spammy, but if you have one set of armor gear that you wear all the time, it works like a charm.

I'm gonna go all Gimfalisette on you guys and lay down some numbers.

No, that's not a problem. But we're trying to kill spam.

Support our clothing movement.

This would actually encourage people to wear other clothes. I despise dressing and undressing from outfit to outfit just because of the sheer number of commands and the spam that ensues.

The rem command is great for undressing sometimes, like, during sexual sessions, or some other event where the remove command with its emotes enlivens the scene.

But to change out of sparring gear and into simple clothes for the tavern? Nah, man, nah.

Gove me strip and dress.

Oh, it's for characters who get time off. Nevermind, then ;)

Though in principle, I agree it'd be nice to do this in a less spammy way.

Many items can be worn in multiple locations. As those of us who have made use of the "wear all" command know, trusting anything automated will end up with things going in places you don't intend to wear them.

That's the only real problem I see with this idea. I personally don't mind the momentary spam from an alias.

There are other problems with this idea along the same lines; for example, what if you have more than one set of clothing in the bag from which you dress?

Perhaps a command wherein beforehand you can set up an outfit, using keywords. It might look like this (things in braces may/may not be included):
make outfit work
hair: (enter a carriage return. Everywhere else this is done will be blank)
head: gith-skull helm
neck: obsidian collar
throat:
right shoulder:
left shoulder:
arms: mekillot-hide armguards
right wrist: grey chitin razor
left wrist: grey chitin razor
hands: fingerless sandcloth gloves
fingers (add all, separated by commas): angular temboeye ring, polished yellow sandstone ring, obsidian band
torso: bone breastplate
body: silt-colored greatcloak
belt: gold-stitched waterbelt
{worn on belt: forked chitin knife}
{worn on belt: leather waterskin}
waist: duskhorn breechguard
legs: dahrad pants
right ankle:
left ankle:
feet: armored silt-scale calf-high galoshes

using as many or few keywords as you like. Then:

outfit work bag
First, you take off everything.
You put on a gith skull helm.
You put on an obsidian collar.
You put on a pair of mekillot-hide armguards.
(and so on)
A polished yellow sandstone ring is not in your crude, filthy hide bag.
A duskhorn breechguard is not in your crude, filthy hide bag.

I don't think it is a big problem which we wear where when we use a dress command.

I am fine with the code randomly stuffing everything everywhere, and if I don't like it, I can change itin a minute.  Hack and slash muds have "wear all" command, and it just dresses you with your inventory the way it wants.  If you do not like it, you may change it afterwards.

>shout I AM BEOWULF

>strip

>subdue braxat

>emote rips %braxat arm from its shoulder socket

>emote beats ~braxat to death with its arm, all the while screaming about he is Beowulf and son of whatever and a lot of nonsense crap as he goes.

What about if we had a way to put clothes into specific "outfits"?

Let's say for instance we all had the ability to put together three specific outfits of clothes we own. If we want to put on desert garb we'd do something like:

>add turban outfit1

You add a deset-colored turban to your first outfit

Then, later one, when we wanna switch out real fast, we get the entire outfit in our inventory, then simply type:

>change outfit1

You quickly strip down and replace your garb with a different outfit.

Should be relatively painless to code, though having the ability to save three separate outfits might eat memory...I dunno, it's a hassle, but one I don't mind too too much.  ;D

(which is part of its appeal)

No doubt. *flex*

The wear all is there, but the remove all is not.

I made a stripe command.. I call it my "STRIP ME MACRO!"
Seriously I did. I got sick of typing, "remove remove remove", and just put it all bound onto F7 or which ever for easy armor removal.

A strip, and outfit changes would be acutally very useful to the solider types. Typing remove etc for 20 items, is -not- fun! :P
"Don't take life too seriously, nobody ever makes it out alive anyway."

There is a wear all, but not a remove all, which is what the strip command seems to be.
Vettrock

I would rather have a modification to the remove command that allows me to take off whatever is in a specific wear location.  That way, if I wish to keep on certain trinkets and remove everything else, I can do so through an alias.  No more keyword fuckups, or taking off the wrong bracelet.

>remove head
You take off your braxat cap.

>remove body
You take off the chitin banded cuirass.

>remove left wrist
You take off the intricately carved bone bracelet to reveal a set of jagged, long scars.
